This looks hopeful.
The copyright holders expect to issue restored season sets starting 2013.

Hope they include all 4 different openings to the show, not just the "walking/shooting" opening.

This is fantastic news! I own about forty episodes, and have watched the same ones weekly for several years. I would purchase these season sets in a heartbeat. :)
From the link posted above:
"Also, the General Merchandise will be the only authorized outlet to offer for the very first time all 168 episodes of THE RIFLEMAN, the original series, newly restored and assembled in DVD box sets. The episodes will be released in sequential order, by season, in high quality boxed sets with exclusive special features. The first boxed set of Season 1 episodes should be ready for release in early 2013."
This is encouraging. :)

I watched a couple of episodes last night (The Angry Gun and Eight Hours To Die). I am very excited at the prospect of collecting this entire series and watching it in order from start to finish. Bring the series on! :)

I wrote to LGL Productions voicing my concern that they commit to all 168 episodes. They responded: "Thank you for your message. We are pleased to know that you are a fan of The Rifleman show. Levy-Gardner-Laven Productions (LGL Productions), which produced the original series and still owns the franchise, is aware that there is a dedicated fan base and producing an authorized DVD set of the original series is under review. The primary consideration is covering the cost for the size of the market and being able to offer a DVD set at a reasonable pricepoint. Your email has been forwarded to Levy-Gardner-Laven Productions, and an announcement to loyal fans will be sent when a decision is made or other newsworthy information is released. If LGL Productions hears from enough fans to achieve a certain critical mass, then producing DVDs will happen sooner rather than later. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience. Your name has been added to our mailing list, so you can receive such notifications. (You can use therifleman.net web site contact form to opt out/in at any time.) Ps. We have started working on releasing season 1 for early 2013." I would suggest that anyone interested in this release contact LGL Productions to voice their enthusiasm and keep the momentum going.

did you email them, or actually send a snail mail? If so, please share their email, or snail mail address, so others can do the same.

Here's the e-mail I sent them: I'm pleased to hear you're bringing this out to DVD in a Season 1 release. I'm hoping these will be remastered as much as possible and in their complete, unedited form. Myself and my three kids really enjoy The Rifleman and watched it on an almost daily basis when it was on World Harvest Television. Please continue to give us all the seasons of this wonderful show. Thank you!

I think this appeared recently at the official Rifleman site. It sounds like S1 will be coming later this year.

Rifleman Site Store

Here's a portion of what I think has been updated recently:

In July 2013, North Fork General Merchandise will open for business on this website, and Millie will be offering unique, branded merchandise for Rifleman fans. Look for prints reproduced from our photographic archive to appear soon.

Also, the General Merchandise will be the only authorized outlet to offer for the very first time all 168 episodes of THE RIFLEMAN, the original series, newly restored and assembled in DVD box sets. The episodes will be released in sequential order, by season, in high quality boxed sets with exclusive special features. The first boxed set of Season 1 episodes are in production now and should be ready for release later in 2013.
I'm hoping for news about the complete series set. We'll have to see how they release this at the site.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this for now. It looks like they're serious about releases but as they say in this business.... if you're from Missouri, that is.... "show me" :D

I'd love to replace my MPI box sets with a remastered series set.

I also have the non-MPI episode captures, courtesy of a good contact friend so I have the complete series now but nothing beats a studio remastered pressed series set. imo.

It is very encouraging to hear that the first season should be released this year. Hopefully the remaining season sets will be released in a quick span of time afterward so we can own all 168 episodes on DVD.

I emailed therifleman.net and received the following encouraging reply:

Thank you for your message. We are pleased to know that you are a fan of The Rifleman show. Levy-Gardner-Laven Productions (LGL Productions), which produced the original series and still owns the franchise, is aware that there is a dedicated fan base. LGL Productions is looking forward to releasing Season 1 as a boxed set in early 2013 on the official website at www.therifleman.net . The plan is for DVD sets to be issued sequentially and not all five season together at the same time. A specific date is not available at this time.

The loyalty and patience of fans like you who are looking forward to seeing the DVDs released is appreciated. Your name has been added to the mailing list so that you can receive an announcement when it becomes available at the official website atwww.therifleman.net

Thank you for your loyal support and for taking the time to write.

Welcome to North Fork,
