The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.
I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp
. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain!
If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!
Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

The Specials

--Hey, everybody! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

--This is my large economy-size WRU to end up 2012. I've included the meager offerings of the lnext two weeks into one Weekly RoundUp in order to buy myself a week off around the holidays. As always, thanks for all your participation and help this past year and I look forward to keeping things going in 2013. 2013 will be my 10th year compiling these weekly reports! (Dave who?) I started taking care of things the first week of January in 2004. Seems like only yesterday.

So, the 'SPECIALS" listed below are for the coming week. I'm not sure if I'll be back next week to update the thread with the specials for the 2nd week...but we'll see. Also, since I put this to bed a little earlier than usual, don't be surprised to see some price changes on the part of Amazon as they go through their usual machinations close to release dates.

--Neither Best Buy nor Target is advertising any new release prices in their Sunday flyer for the week after Christmas.

--Best Buy is offering the opportunity to see Taken 2 EARLY, via streaming. Pre-order the Best Buy EXCLUSIVE Blu-ray Combo Pack (with T-Shirt) between 12-18-12 and 1-14-13 (releases 1-15-13) in store or at bestbuy.com and receive the digital copy of Taken 2 EARLY for FREE via CinemaNow.com Pre-order deposit is required and non-refundable if the physical pre-order is canceled. Digital copy is non-returnable. To get your hard copy of the movie, please pick it up from any of the stores immediately after the release date. Minimum of 5 pre-order cards per store. No rainchecks.
--On December 23 & 24 ONLY, Best Buy will have the DVD of The Dark Knight Rises on sale for $9.99.

I see nothing I really need. Looper is in the Netflix queue, but Mike's 20th anniversary with the RU is going to come before I get to it. (Added as #339...on the one disc at a time plan.)

Thank you very much Mike for all the work the Round Up takes every single week!

Wow... I really want season 3 of Justified on Blu-ray but $44.99 is too much. $59.99 at Best Buy is ridiculous. I picked up season 2 about this time last year and it was much cheaper on release day. If I am not mistaken, the Blu-ray set was $24.99 and it was $19.99 on DVD. I bought one of each... one for me and one for my dad.
EDIT: I saw a pre-order of season 3 of Justified on both Blu-ray and DVD at Walmart yesterday. It was $34.99 for the Blu-ray set and I think it was $29.99 for the DVDs. The case says you can start streaming season 3 now and they'll mail you the discs around release day.

I think between Total Recall last week and Looper this week its time for me to rejoin Blockbuster, assuming there is still a store open near me. Congrats on 10 years Mike. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I don't understand those re-releases of Veronica Mars, especially at those prices. The existing sets run $12-$13 on Amazon.

Omg ten years (ok technically nine). Now I feel old. ;)
Thanks for all the hard work you do. Looper for me. Loved it in the theater. And I saw a free screening at Sony so I don't feel too ripped off by the non loss leader price.

Thanks, Mike, for all you've done and continue to do. You are my Sunday morning pre-church ritual.
I want to check out Cosmopolis, mainly because of the lovely Juliette (great pic, BTW).

Wait, what's this? Just a moment, folks.

Thanks for another great year of savings, Mike! Thanks directly and indirectly to this week's RoundUp, I saved $107.98 at Best Buy today.
Mike Frezon said:
$21.99: Person of Interest: S1 (Blu)
I was looking for this kind of deal for the first season of Person of Interest during the Black Friday frenzy, and it never happened to I was VERY happy to be able to nab it today, even though it meant fighting the holiday crowds at the mall. While I was there I noticed that the Blu-Rays for both series five and series six of "Doctor Who" were back on sale for $19.99 each, so I grabbed Series Six of that as well.

I feel the same way. It's a title I'm definitely going to own, but it definitely one I'm willing to wait for the right price for. The second season came out on Blu less than a year ago, and it's already down below $20 on Amazon, so the price will come down in the months to come.

Thank you, Mike. I don't post in this thread each week, but I do read it and very much appreciate your efforts for the past 9 years and will continue to do so in year 10.

A safe and Blessed Merry Christmas to you and all of HTF and their families.

Looper was pretty good but I don't need to own it (especially at $25). I'll head over to Best Buy the day after Christmas for 30 Rock: Season Six and take a look for any other in-store deals but that's it for me.
Thanks for nine years of prices, Mike! :)

Thanks again for the roundup!
I would imagine the VM reissues are to re-do the packaging into single cases rather than the big cardboard ones they have now.

Has anyone seen the How I Met Your Mother and New Girl releases at Target for that price? My local ad doesn't have them listed.

Thanks, Mike. I'll get Finding Nemo if I can get to a Target sometime after Christmas. Enjoy your two weeks and Merry Christmas everyone.
