My budget is going to be no more then $1,200
The area is 9ft wide X 8ft 8'' high
The seating is at 13ft back from the wall at the moment could go to 15ft if need be.
Looking to get something pre owned. There is a guy selling a Mitsubishi HC6800 on craigslist near me. Thoughts on this projector?
Also how big could I go for screen size for the size of space that I have?
Thanks in advance for your time & help,
-Boots
P.S.
Could someone tell me how to attach a photo to a thread. I tried with the attachment, & image button up top of the thread. I clicked on the image and submit it all it does is say wait a moment, done that for over 10min. Tried 3 times with no luck

You need more posts first.
About that projector...
Is there anything wrong with it? Basically asking cause those, new, are still close to $1400.
You'll have to download the owners manual for the projector for specifics on distance to mount it and what screen size at your preferred distance, as it is capable of 300".

That projector model is already 3 years old, it came out in 2009. I would never buy a used projector, it is VERY risky. Does your $1,200 budget include the screen also? If so, I would recommend you do a DIY screen. Your screen size is limited because your screen wall is only 9' wide, and you need room for the front speakers. What type of speakers do you want for thr front, and where will you place them? A screen size of 7' wide(96" diagonal) gives you about 12" on each side of screen for the speakers.

Yes the 1200 does include the screen. The DIY is something I can do for sure... lol I'm sure easier said then done :D
I've took the speaker size into the equation so that leaves me with 9ft wide of wall to work with.

To do a 110" image, it needs(rounding) 10-16 feet in projection distance.
120" needs 11-18 feet.
Thanks for the info on the photo posting. Thanks for the info on this. Stupid question, but what does rounding mean?

I was taking his measurement area as he has already taken into account he needs to leave room for speakers...but...valid concern...did he already reduce the area...or not?
To me, age of the projector is irrelevant. You can still find that one new. But yes, used at under $1000(considering he needs to build a screen so the cost must be $1000) for that projector is risky.

Rounding means...
Instead of saying 122" for X size screen, I rounded it to 10 feet.
Right on.
And yes the guy is asking $995 for the projector

And 9 feet of width at 16:9 nets you 124"
at 2.4:1 nets 117"
Both of those require essentially the same projection distance, which is workable with your room.
More info on this projector...
Does the guy say why he is selling?
New house and bought a 3D?
Unknown reason?
Edit:
I buy and sell this stuff for a living(been doing it for 3 years now), so I'm not scared of used projectors...but I also know not to buy one(to flip it) till I've personally seen it in use for 20-30 minutes.

You can easily do a DIY screen for $100 or less, so that leaves $1,100 for a projector. You can buy a new 1080p for that amount. A good screen size for a 13' seating distance is about 110" diagonal.
1) Do you care if it's LCD or DLP?
2) Are you going to ceiling mount it or use a rear shelf? A shelf would require a projector with lens shift.
3) What would your throw distance be(lens to screen)?

$995?
How many hours?
Do you get another bulb?
Mount?
???
A used HC6800, with nothing, and more than 2000hrs(mainly cause you'll be buying a bulb soon) is not worth $995.
(just now realize I linked the 3800...but it is the 6800 that is "new on Amazon" for $1400)

As shown in the pictures, if you get the mount...I wouldn't pay more than $800.
Projector only...$750. Especially since he doesn't tell you the hours on it.
He may not know you can buy it new for $1400.
The "lone good news" is you know it has never overheated...

Another reason $995 is too much money...

not necessarily stuck on that particular projector.
Is there anything out there better for about the same money that would suit my needs?

$1200 is a very light budget. Even if you were to choose this...
http://www.amazon.com/Optoma-HD20-Definition-Theater-Projector/dp/B002G0CWSU/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1355709626&sr=1-6&keywords=epson+8350
We don't know when you plan to use this(daylight, nightime...closed off to outside light???).
You should also pick up one of these to test the room, to even make sure you can budget for a bright enough projector...

So you would go with the Optoma HD2O over the Mitsubishi HC6800 is it was you buying one?
This is a part of my walkout basment that does have windows to the right. of where I would put the screen. They do have blinds and I could always add window treatments to realy darken the room.
I changed my avatar to the picture of the area to give you a better idea of what I'm trying to do.
Thanks again for all of your input

So...
Based on that picture, are you replacing everything that is already there?
Planning 2 displays and an AT screen?
My "main HT room" has a JVC projector and a 50" Hitachi plasma. I bought the house with an AT screen already there. I had to replace the original projector when it died.
There is no way I'd buy an HD20 when you can get the 6800 for $1000. The HD20 has a "used price" under $500. But, based on your "lack of budget" I'd buy a Mitsubishi DLP RPTV. There is no way I'd attempt to throw $1200 at that room with a projector.

No my 60'' tv in my bedroom is going bad so I would like to put the 65'' from the basement in the bedroom. Sell the enterainment center and put a screen on the wall where it is. Leave the speakers where they are at. That will give me a little over 9ft or if I moved the sub to antoher location. I could gain another 1.5'

That, with your budget, is what you should get. As DLP winds down(Mits just announced they aren't replacing them) you can probably snag a 82" for $1200.
