I will be the first to admit I was wrong. Last season, I threw in the towel and vowed to never watch the show again. Well, after hearing about a Dwight spinoff series, and that season 9 would be the last season I changed my mind. I caught up, and finished season 8 shortly before 9 started. While season 8 was mostly a disappointment (still puzzled that the James Spader character was wasted in what could have been a great role) I thought season 9 has to be better. It is. This season so far, is very funny to me. I'm laughing watching the episodes again. They cut out a lot of the fat that detracted from the series. I'm surprised how glad I am that Ryan, and Kelly are gone. Andy was a poor choice for boss, so what do they do this season? Send him on a boat exploration that takes him right off the show. Who knows when he will return, but I don't miss him either. No boss is the best bet. It certainly isn't the best the show has ever been, but it is good. And while many people including some of my friends have cheerfully wrote this series off(like I did) I can only offer them advice to give it another chance.

Maybe it's because I know the end is coming but I've enjoyed the show this year too. I think having longer running story arcs for the characters has helped boost this season over the last couple as well.

When Ed Helms is finished shooting The Hangover 3. :) At least I'm assuming that's the real world reason for Andy's boat trip.

Ahh, got ya. Sounds right to me. Well, to me it is helping the show. I'm already dreading that this series is ending, as it is suddenly starting to feel fresh again. Like there are many more funny stories to be told. But 9 seasons is a really healthy run for a sitcom.

A decent episode with a great but sad moment between Pam and Jim. We finally got to see the doc film crew. Meredith had a different wig on. The cold opening of Jim's lost prank on Dwight was found. Very funny.

I'd just like to say that NBC can bite me for ruining that part by mentioning it in their synopsis. It's not like The Office is Lost or Breaking Bad where there's big cliffhangers but the reveal of the crew was a big moment for the show and NBC's description blew it. That being said, it was a really nice scene because you have to imagine that after nearly a decade, the crew who has seen Pam fall in love, get married and have children would be especially attached to her.

Just caught the latest episode. I think this is an average episode with a heartbreaking end. Wow, Jim tore Pam apart. For the first time since the first episode I felt really, really bad for Pam...and thought Jim was just an asshole.

Agreed. After seeing it in the synopsis I expected it to be a bigger part of the show, rather than a 'surprise' at the end.

Wasn't the tease with the crew a set-up for more and more intrusions with them for the rest of the season? Didn't I read that somewhere?

Though I like Ed Helms, I think the show has been doing well without him this season. I also like the show much better now that Nellie is not so annoying.

I agree completely. I have not missed Ed Helms at all.

I do not like where they are going with the crew scenes. If they end the series by messing up the core relationship, it will really leave a bad taste with me. David

I'd like to see a "crew" scene later in the season where they're discussing the documentary and have one of them say, "We should have stopped it when Jim and Pam got married." And have another one say, "We should have stopped it when Michael Scott left."

With them ending this with the film doc crew, it makes you wonder how they are going to end Parks & Recreation.

I didn't mind the little cameo in the episode from a week ago where he just turned the camera off to comfort Pam, but seriously, using this whole thing to introduce a competing love interest? What a waste.

The boom man obviously has feelings for Pam but I don't see it as being reciprocal. I'd be surprised if he's even in two more episodes.

The last three episodes have been pretty uneventful(a little boring actually) but I'm still watching.

I like the Pam/Jim connundrum, and I'm curious to see how it turns out.  The Dwight family farm is a bit interesting, but it feels like a different show altogether.  Is the Dwight spinoff still happening?  I haven't heard mention of it since early last year.

Andy continues to be overly annoying still trying to fill the Michael Scott void(I now don't have  shred of care left for him, or Erin).

Hope the show picks up in the final stretch!

No, it wasn't picked up. The episode where they had Dwight's aunt's funeral was basically The Farm pilot recut with newly shot office scenes (the Packer and the laxative cupcakes story) to make it into an episode of The Office.

I love that the documentary is going to air and they're panicking when they realize all the stuff that the crew has caught on camera over the years.

Thanks Travis.  That explains it.  Too bad, I was actually looking forward to a Dwight show.  Oh well.
