David Frankel's Hope Springs, with Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones and Steve Carell is your typical standard issue Blu-ray disc from Columbia / Sony.

Perfect.

The film on the disc is very nice, possibly even a bit better.

Roger Ebert had some interesting things to say about Mr. Jones, and the way that he plays a character very unlike anyone he's played before.  Rather than discussing that, I'll send you to Mr. Ebert's site, here:

To my mind, his reviews are normally spot on.  At least for me.

It's very difficult to make a bad Blu-ray out of a film that begins as data, and goes through life as data, although there have been a few slip-ups.  This isn't one of them.

Color, densities, black levels, "grain," and shadow detail are all exemplary.

Audio is DTS-HD MA.

Just chalk up one more perfect Blu-ray for Sony.

I like that.

Recommended.

I enjoyed this film a lot when I saw it at the theatre in the summer. Many thanks for your review!

Love the play on words title.

I don't know if I'll ever look at Tommy Lee Jones or Meryl Streep the same way ever again.
