Without resorting to Rap or Dubstep?
Getting a good collection going of bass tracks, and I have all I can handle on both of those fronts, but what I would like to round them out is Rock, Jazz, Classic and even World Music (Taiko drums anyone?) that really has amazing sounding bottom end.
Thoughts?

This has some you might like. Only one rap tune, but a few electronic selections:

Based on Audacity spectrum analysis, the bass frequencies range from 31 Hz to 172 Hz, depending on the track. I'll let you try to figure out which ones. :)

Neat thanks guys! Sam I am told there is a copy of Camille Saint-Saens Organ Symphony packed in with my Hsu Sub, will uncrate it tomorrow. Should be similar to your track #6, i think i have a few different versions of the Toccata and Fugue!

I used to have a DTS Audio CD that had jungle sounds, and there was a sequence with a waterfall, I think it was, that just absolutely shook my sub off the wall years ago.. I had I think the Sunfire sub then, and it just lit up on that CD

Yello "Touch Yello"

Really good electronic music complete with frequency sweeps and low bass info.

Most excellent music. They have been around for 30 years or more. Their claim to fame was the song "Oh Yeah" that was featured in several films...but they are much more than that.

Anyone ever tried recording a bass guitar direct into a soundcard analog input jack?

(Wonder how low it can go).

The best track in the game isn't on the OST, it's the amazing Taiko drum track that plays during public events:

I have reached out to the composers and they know folks want it, they are working on a second disk with mostly ambient and event music, where the OST covered all of the 'themes'.

I'm no expert on rap/hip-hop...but some of the music used in the soundtrack of the ScarJo film Lucy seemed to go mighty low at my house. Especially the opening/closing credits.

- Having a 5 string bass - and working with it - thought I might be able to answer this question.

- A "normally" tuned 5 string bass goes down to a low B - giving you an extra 3 notes lower than a regular 4 string bass's E string. - Yes, that is actually a lot lower than it sounds - but nothing close to what the synth bass will give you. Not even close to what the normal pipe organ music can reproduce as far as bass goes.

- You can de-tune the bass to go below the low B - but you still won't be close to a pipe organ.
