Confused about Connections

I've been out of the loop for awhile now and recently had the money to get some new stuff. I bought a 50" LCD tv and a 5.1 sound system/blu-ray. I also have my current Xbox 360. My questions come from the setup problems I've been having. I have my 360 connected to the Tv in HDMI 1, HTiB connected to HDMI 2 (ARC). My issue is that I can only hear sound through the 5.1 setup when I play blu-ray movies. I cannot hear sound from my 360 over the same speakers. If I unplug the HTiB from the tv and reset my Audio settings then I can hear the 360 sound on the Tv speakers but that's not how I want it. I want to be able to hear all of it through the 5.1 channel. So I am wondering how I need to change it all so I can hear it all. I've heard of a "set-top box" for routing all sound kinda like an Audio switch. Help is appreciated!!

You need to list the equipment, as the ARC should allow 2.0 from your XBox. Your TV involved automatically means you can't get 5.1 anyway. So, maybe you have the Xbox set-up 5.1 and your TV doesn't understand that...hence no audio. So, change your Xbox from 5.1 to 2.0 PCM and go from there.

50" Insignia LCD 1080p Tv - HDMI 1 - HDMI 2 (ARC) - HDMI 3 Plus the usual optical port and coloured ports. Sony BDV-E390 Blu-ray 5.1 Xbox 360 So how do I make my tv not involved? Is it possible to buy something so that all the sound comes through the 5.1 system?

Oh I see. That makes a lot more sense! Thanks for the help!
