Hello everyone, The old guy is back with another question. I appreciate your help. We are looking to buy a decent sound bar for our grandson. They have a nice family room but heard them say they didn't want to do wires all around the room over Turkey last week. Made me think a sound bar would work with their TV. Good ones to look at and bad ones to avoid? Any out of the way stores we should check for good deals? Would like to stay under $150 if possible but will kick up a little higher if I have to. Thanks. Mel

I sure will. We were looking online at the Vizio brands but have recently read that ZVOX was a nice brand too. Been looking online for promo codes now for that brand. We told our Grandson and his lovely bride that we would be late with our gift due to Grandpa being a anal searcher. :):):):):):):):):):)

Hehehe. Taking a page from the "Raj playbook"... Do you hear the tings in your head before saying them? And back to the point... Zvox are great. Make sure to buy one with an optical input.

OH MY. That doesn't sound like it's suppose to sound. I hope I haven't offended anyone. With any sound bar purchase, is it important they have an optical input? They only have a TV to plug in to. No DVD player, no stereo, nothing.

Most modern TV only have optical outputs. Just removes the hurdle of needing an optical/analog adapter... And no, nobody is offended. Just made me(and assume others) chuckle.

Hi Gang, Sorry for late response but wanted to make sure I had feed back from the kids on the unit we got them. We ended up getting them a Panasonic SC-HTB350 Our local Best Buy had it on sale for $119.00. I compared pricing and that was about $100 less than even Amazon. The kids have it connected via a optical cable. They said the sound is much better than TV speakers. I believe they are still trying to get the proper settings between the TV and the system. Said they sometimes have a echo type sound. Any ideas where or what to read to get the proper sound settings. I looked online at the manual and it doesn't address this at all. Hope you all think I made a good purchase. After weeks of reading, asking questions here, and scouting prices...it seemed to be a good deal.

For that price...yes. Sounds like they haven't turned off the TV's speakers.

OK, TV speakers are off (they said it has a off, low, med, high setting) but they have a Digital dolby setting too and it's on. Both off? Or doesn't matter? Thanks again

Off/Low/Medium/High sounds like a DRC...which wouldn't even be available if the speakers were turned off. DD should be turned off.
