Hey all so my first post here.....and it's a pre/pro and Audyssey question!
I work in theatre as an audio head doing musicals but have never had a home theatre. I just bought a house and am setting one up (well more of just a family room with kick ass sound) I have a genelec 8030a 5.1 system and want/need a pre/pro with balanced XLR outs. I was looking at the Marantz av7005 but after a BUNCH or research may have talked myself out of it! My question is......is Audyssey MultEQ XT32 worth the extra $600 I can get the 7005 for about $1000 but it only has MultEQ xt and the only XT32 I can find is about $1600 so is xy32 really THAT much better?? Or are there any quality pre/pros with XLR out and XT32 for around the 7005 price??
Thanks!

You tell me if 512 filters is better than 16. Your answer will be different than mine.

Nice speakers. :)
I had an Integra 70.2 with 32XT and I didn't think it was worth all the hoop-la, but then again I don't really care for what these auto setup features do for my sound quality. I usually run them and then make some minor adjustments to suit my personal taste. Even the new Marantz 7701 doesn't have it (Marantz is becoming the forgon step-child in the Denon group). But the Onkyo pre-pro's have 32XT if you're still interested. Here's another place to shop.
Marantz 7005 refurbished pre-pro ($999 shipped) http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/MARAV7005/Marantz-AV7005-Networking-AV-Preamp/Processor/1.html
Onkyo 5008 refurbished pre-pro ($1499 + sh) but currently sold-out.
5 year extended warranties would be about $90 if a refurb worries you.
If you don't mind buying used there's an Integra DHC-80.2 on Audiogon for $1350 http://app.audiogon.com/listings/processors-integra-dhc-80-2-9-2-channel-network-a-v-controller-2012-11-21-home-theater-90265
Or an Onkyo PR-SC5508 $1200 http://app.audiogon.com/listings/processors-onkyo-pr-sc5508-2012-11-24-home-theater-69361
Both the 5508 and 80.2 are a couple of years old and may not have the latest whiz-bang features. If a new unit is what you're looking for the Marantz might be the only option in your price range. Unless you can find a great deal somewhere on a left over new 5509.

And, if the used market doesn't scare you...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Integra-DTC-9-8-Processor-MINT-/200849292526?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item2ec38cfcee
That, by far, is the easiest one to find on the used market. There are three on Ebay right now.

Thanks for the replys!!
I do wish denon made a pre/pro with xlr outs but haven't found one yet. 512 filter does "sound" better but I am for sure going to tune the system more than an auto set up will so can I achieve the same results without xt32 by adjusting on my own or is that impossible? Ill take a look at the above listed options I will say I really love the idea of having AirPlay all set up that the 7005 has

Denon does, but it retails for $7500. http://usa.denon.com/us/product/pages/productdetail.aspx?pcatid=avsolutions(denonna)&catid=avseparates(denonna)&catalog=denonna_us&pid=avpa1hdcia(denonna)
I've heard a lot of good things about ARC but I haven't any hands on experience with it. But it's like anything else. If you look around enogh you'll find those who prefer it and those who don't. Trinov is supposed to top them all but Sherwood is the only receiver to have it. The price is right, but still not worth the risk. http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/SHERR972/SHERWOOD-R-972-Newcastle-7.1-A/V-Surround-Receiver-TrueHD-DTS-HD/1.html

To confuse you even more, here a newbe on the horizon (finally). The Emotiva XMC-1 ($1499). I have a discount card worth 40% off but I'm pretty happy with my Marantz and Pioneer Elite receivers fopr the moment. I'm also expecting to hear about some bugs in it just like all other new products. http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/xmc1
Outlaw Audio used to be the leader in bang for the buck pre-pros untill the Integra9.8/Onkyo 885 came out a few years ago. Outlaw hitched it's wagon to Sherwood/Trinnov and it almost put them out of business. What a shame. They are releasing a bare-bones pre-pro for $549 but it lacks balanced outputs. http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/975.html
Emotiva also has two cheap...'scuse me...in-expensive pre-pros, the UMC-! and the newer UMC-200. http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/processors

I wish Emotiva had a solid release date but seems it keeps being pushed back.
I did a forum search for the Sunfire TGP-401 Theater Grand but there were no results. I have used their speakers and love them but haven't heard their processors. It also seem like they don't 3d video is this the case?
