Why is the Universal Logo shown at 2.35:1 and the rest of the film 1.85:1? IMDB says it is 1.85:1 but I noticed some strange framing and am not totally convinced. Strangely enough I saw some things not only on the side but also the top.. I'm just curious if anyone knows anything definite.

I have seen Imitation Of Life several times in theaters from revival houses to the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. All screened in the 1.85 aspect ratio.

Thanks, Thomas. I wonder why the 2.35:1 logo.
