I know nothing about a Home Theater System .... I just finished remodeling the front room in my house. It measures approx. 23' x 11'.
I have a nice Onkyo receiver .. but I don't know if I need a special receiver to hook up Home Theater.
My wife has been with Albertsons for twenty years. She has a chance to receive a Coby HTiB. It has 600 watts power 5.1 channel surround and five satellite speakers.
Will you please give me a little "heads-up" ?

It would help to know the model number of this Onkyo.
The Coby thing is something I'd throw on Fleabay and get as much money out of it as I could.

What does the 5.1 channel surround mean?
My Onkio is just a plane receiver.

It means, in modern lexicon...
Audio, when used in association with video(primarily sports and movies)...
You have front right and left(traditional stereo)
In addition...
Center. Handles dialogue
rear left and right. Handles the crowd noise(think football to give the illusion you are in the stands) or ship noise(U571 is a classic example, you hear the noises a submarine makes...practically non-stop)
subwoofer. Handles the bass, so the other 5 don't have to.
