Oh, I'm patiently waiting for the James Caan version.
Saw in the theatre, long ago. Have the VHS and the DVD.

It's not my most-beloved-of-all-time movie, but I would definitely welcome a proper BD version!

It has been playing on TCMHD (upconverted - not true HD) and I've enjoyed revisiting the film. It would be an easy purchase for me if a respectable version makes its way to BD. Some aspects feel dated (most notably the fashions and aspects of the production design) and in other ways it feels remarkably prescient in its themes of dehumanization in the modern era and corporate entities displacing traditional nation states as the seats of power.

It's been shown several times on MGMHD as well. No idea if it's upconverted, but it looked pretty decent to me for a mid-70s film.

Just wondering if this classic is ever going to get a Blu release? :)
Never realized that when I saw Rollerball in 70mm in 1975 I was viewing a classic. That said compared to much of today's output I guess you can consider this film a class act.

I have also pre-ordered (or to steal a phrase from ROclockCK, "panic-bought" ;)), and am glad I did.

Something tells me this one will not be around very long, possibly selling out prior to shipping. Lest we forget, the extras you may not know are from the SE DVD that MGM saw fit to release only outside North America, and since the TT BD is all-region and worldwide-compatible, I would not be surprised to see a lot of international buyers for this one. And TT appear to have hit every mark this time, with not only the isolated score and 5.1 audio, but also the original mono track--all in lossless quality.

I am thoroughly looking forward to revisiting the film.

I never understand the wording 'original mono track' when used for a film that was originally presented in stereo. Perhaps it's how most people viewed the film but Rollerball was certainly a stereo film from the beginning.

Not a classic in your opinions of course.

I first saw this was I was a kid, probably 11 or 12, and it scared the absolute bejesus out of me. Not because of the violence, which I loved (what kid wouldn't like those cool battles in the arenas?), but because of the horrible realisation that Jonathan was doomed. The entire machinery of power in his world was set against him and no matter how good he was, how big and strong, he couldn't win. He, and everybody else, could only rise so far.
