I had the fortunate opportunity to be on a closed beta for CalMAN v5.  I am under non-disclosure, so I can't talk about specifics, but I will say that it is a step up from v4, which would be expected.  :)

I'm doing the post because I just got an email from L.A. at SpectraCal regarding V5.

SpectraCal is in the process of releasing CalMAN 5 Ultimate, the culmination of years of development, and the state of the art in video calibration solutions, allowing far more accurate calibrations while being much faster and easier to use.  CalMAN 5 Ultimate offers a huge array of powerful features, some of which you can see enumerated on this web page.

The price for CalMAN 5 Ultimate will be $2995.  But if you purchase CalMAN 4 Commercial (at $2495) before July 31, you will be upgraded to CalMAN 5 Ultimate at no additional charge.  That is, you save $500 by buying now.

By purchasing in July, you also qualify for another exceptional value:  a free DVDO Duo video processor!  The DVDO Duo is a brilliant accomplishment in video engineering, offering not only superb scaling and switching, but also truly exceptional video calibration ability, giving you the ability to create a much better image that is usually possible by calibrating the display alone.  CalMAN is tightly integrated with the Duo to perform a great autocalibration.  If you’re a professional, the fastest, easiest way to deliver a great calibration to your customer is to add a Duo to the video chain, connect CalMAN to the Duo, and push the autocalibration button.  If it’s your own home theater, the same holds true.  Put a Duo in front of the display, connect CalMAN to the Duo, and press autocal.  You get a great image at the cost of very little time and effort.   The DVDO Duo costs $1295.  If you buy CalMAN 4 Commercial in July, you get the Duo free.

A free Duo ($1295) plus the free upgrade to CalMAN 5 Ultimate ($500) means you have $1795 in motivating reasons to buy CalMAN by Tuesday.

If you have any questions about CalMAN itself, about the powerful features that will be added in CalMAN 5 Ultimate, or about the reasons why video calibration matters to viewers and to your business, let me encourage you to call me or your SpectraCal representative today.

The main line into SpectraCal is (877) 886-5112 (from abroad, +1 605 274 6055).   If you’d like to talk to me directly, the best way to get me is on my cell phone below.

This is one of the best savings opportunities I’ve ever seen anywhere before.  It’s highly unlikely that you’ll ever have a chance at this much savings from SpectraCal ever again.  I urge you very strongly not to let the opportunity pass you by.

CalMAN 5 for Business is the culmination of two years of intense software development, based on listening carefully to your requests.

CalMAN 5 includes the most powerful display matching software ever seen -- and yet the easiest to use.  If your work ever involves getting two or more projectors or panels to present the same appearance, your life just improved.  You can spend far less time at the site and still leave with a way better picture.

CalMAN 5 for Business contains many other features you'll love even if you're only calibrating one display at a time.  These include:

  • Vastly more powerful reports, now separated from workflows
  • Powerful new autocalibration - now for color as well as grayscale!
  • An innovative new control to make it easier to set contrast
  • Assisted selection of color temperature, gamut and gamma presets
  • Support for saturation and luminance sweeps, with 3D color cube charts.
  • A new, much more intuitive user interface
  • A vastly expanded help system
  • A powerful new database
  • Easy data export (e.g., to Excel)
If you're a current CalMAN user, you need to see CalMAN 5 right now.

If you've ever evaluated CalMAN previously, you really need to look again.
