I was thinking the same thing, not to mention how arbitrary their choices seem to be. If they were going to license this, why not throw in Chinatown, too?

This is great and not a title I would have ever expected from Criterion. Nice release date too for this film...the day before Halloween.

One of my very first HTF posts back in 2003 was about how a Criterion version of Rosemary's Baby (then on DVD) was #1 on my 'virtually impossible' wishlist.

It's my favourite film of all time, and whilst I was disappointed that Paramount missed the opportunity to celebrate its 40th anniversary a few years back, the extra 4 years will be worth the wait. I would have loved a commentary from Polanski, Farrow & Evans, but I'm sure the interviews will be just as good.

I love the cover too. It should be a lesson to other studios that it's very difficult to improve on original poster art...

Add me to those excited for this!

My nit pick is I would of preferred "Look What Happened To Rosemary's Baby", the supposedly terrible TV movie as the bonus film over that documentary, but I'll take everything Criterion gives me with this one. Criterion continues to be my favourite studio this year.

Come to think of it, this was one of the rare instances where Criterion used the original artwork, Anatomy of a Murder being another notable instance this year.

It's funny, Criterion is one of the few companies where their custom art is often as good as the original so that I didn't even clue in that it's odd to have poster art on this release! Posted Image

If you go to the amazon listing, one of the images is of Rosemary seeing her baby for the first time. Even as a still, it's scary. How did she bulge her eyes out like that?
