Culver City, CA (July 16, 2012) – Tom Selleck, in his role as small-town police chief Jesse Stone, returns to the home screen in JESSE STONE: BENEFIT OF THE DOUBTthe latest chapter of the popular TV franchise, debuting on DVD August 7th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Adapted from characters created in the late Robert B. Parker’s best-selling novels, the new installment of the critically acclaimed crime drama leads audiences into a dark, suspenseful mystery in which Stone investigates the chilling case of a double homicide. Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Kathy Baker (TV’s “Picket Fences”), Kohl Sudduth (TV’s “Grosse Pointe”), Gloria Reuben (TV’s “ER”), Stephen McHattie (Immortals), Robert Carradine (TV’s “Lizzie McGuire”), Saul Rubinek (TV’s “Warehouse 13”) and William Devane (TV’s “24”) also star in the TV movie.


JESSE STONE: BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT originally aired on CBS May 20 with 12.8 million viewers. The TV movie is directed by Robert Harmon. The screenplay, based on characters created by Robert B. Parker, is written by Tom Selleck and Michael Brandman.



The chief is back on the job. When a shocking double homicide rocks the quiet coastal town of Paradise, Massachusetts, Stone is forced back into action. With his police department nearly emptied of staff, he has to rely on his expert intuition to sort through a maze of misleading clues as he attempts to unravel two mysterious murders.



JESSE STONE: BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT is not rated. The DVD has a run time of approximately 89 minutes.

12.8 million viewers, but they're not 18-35 years old. So even cable doesn't want new Jesse Stone films. Ain't it nice to be irrelevant?

i liked the jesse stone films but this one left something to be desired.

The whole thing with Jesse Stone's ratings isn't really anything new (it being the most and least watched show on the night a new Jesse Stone film/TV film has premiered on CBS?). Keeping positive that more Jesse Stone stories are filmed.
