So is it HDMI pass through or does it actually control the box the way a PS3 or 360 already does?

Will this work to stream videos on my home server? I have hundreds of wedding, baby and gardening videos and pics on my home server. I will not use cloud so thats no an option. If not this is a no starter out of the gate.

will this work with a tivo premiere as the Cablebox?
