Ok. My sister, who is nearly deaf, is going to be staying at my house for a few months. I have a Panasonic HDTV, with a 'Digital Audio Out' slot on the back of the TV. There is no headphone outlet on this, or any of my TV's. Is there any way to hook up a headphone directly to the 'Digital Audio Out' input? And if not, are there any ideas on how to connect a headphone to the TV? My headphones have the standard mini-connector. Is there an adaptor that would plug into the digital audio slot? I have Dish network for my TV provider. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated. Otherwise, the TV will be blaring late into the night.

A bit out of my area but...
Trying to plug headphones into the optical port won't work, even with an adaptor of some sort, as there's no amplified signal from the optical out. If your display has a stereo analog output you might be able to use an rca to 1/4" adaptor but double-check this with someone. http://www.amazon.com/Male-3-5mm-Stereo-Female-Y-Cable/dp/B000I23TTE/ref=pd_sim_e_4
Another option might be wireless headphones http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Remanufactured-RS-110-Headphones/dp/B0009PXEEU/ref=pd_sim_e_5
If your display doesn't have the rca output (mine doesn't) then maybe you can connect the wireless headphones up to the Dish receiver's rca outputs?

Thanks. The wireless headphones linked to the Dish box is the way to go. I appreciate the link.

You can use a 3.5 mm jack to 2 rca males into the back of your STB. You can plug your headphones into the 3.5mm jack and audio from your Dish Net box should be outputting.
