BURBANK, CA (June 11, 2012) – After a highly successful seven-year run, it’s time to bid farewell to one of cable television’s finest police dramas, The Closer, as the series draws to an end this summer. Viewers will be able to enjoy the critically acclaimed series’ last season in its entirety when Warner Home Video (WHV) releases all season seven episodes on DVD August 21, 2012. Entitled The Closer: The Complete Seventh and Final Season, this release will feature 21 exciting episodes on five discs plus bonus material, including a featurette, unaired scenes and a gag reel. The Closer: The Complete Seventh and Final Season will retail for $59.98 SRP.
The final season of The Closer stars Emmy® winner Kyra Sedgwick as Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, a top-notch investigator who has put some of Los Angeles’ most brutal killers behind bars. With her keen investigative instincts and brilliant interrogation techniques, Brenda often closes her cases by eliciting a confession or cornering a suspect through sometimes-questionable methods. Now, her career may be on the line as a result of her frequently unorthodox methods, and her tactics are coming under the scrutiny of the L.A.P.D.’s new Chief of Police, who is on the verge of announcing an extensive reorganization that could spell the end of Major Crimes. Joining the series in a starring role this season is two-time Oscar® nominee Mary McDonnell as Captain Sharon Raydor.
Despite the whirlwind of controversy building around her, Brenda is determined to continue doing her job the best that she can, and she expects the same of her squad members. Together, they will take on some of the toughest cases of their careers, including a massacre that involves an up and coming rapper; a house-sitter who is killed while the family who hired her is on vacation; the death of a cross-dressing minister; a registered offender who is found buried under a retaining wall; the death of a Santa Claus who is killed in a zip-line accident; the murder of an aspiring teenage pop star’s father and much more.
The Closer also stars J.K. Simmons (Juno), Corey Reynolds (The Guardian), Robert Gossett (Arlington Road), G.W. Bailey (The Jeff Foxworthy Show), Tony Denison (Prison Break), Michael Paul Chan (Arrested Development), Raymond Cruz (Training Day), Phillip P. Keene (Home) and Jon Tenney (The Division). Joining the series in a starring role this season is two-time Academy Award® nominee Mary McDonnell (Battlestar Galatica) as Captain Sharon Raydor. McDonnell earned an Emmy® Award nomination in 2011 (Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series) for her role on the show.
“The Closer owes its enormous success in part due to gifted actress Kyra Sedgwick, who has done a superb job in bringing Brenda’s role to life. Although the series is wrapping up, Brenda’s character will definitely live on in our hearts and in television history,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Senior Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. She added, “The Closer was an excellent show from start to finish and we are proud to offer the final season to consumers on DVD.”
