I haven't watched it all, and the focus on some of the family friendly stuff like NintendoLand is a bit of a letdown, but Pikmin 3 looks great. It really shows off some of the power of the Wii U. Granted, it's stuff we've seen on other systems (the distorted fire through the wall of ice, for example, looks wonderful but I won't claim it's breaking new ground), but I think Nintendo IPs in HD is pretty exciting.

As for New Super Mario Bros. U, I've only seen brief video so far, but while gameplay may remain the same, the backgrounds look like no other Super Mario game we've seen. They'd gotten into a pattern where every game looked about the same.

I don't know if Nintendo did a good job selling the Wii U as a day one purchase for most people. I love new tech that does new things so I was sold a year ago. The games they have look pretty interesting/good overall but no system sellers.

I've been a day one buyer since announcement, but it was bizarre how they focused on the underwhelming Nintendo Land. I wish they'd come out firing with a huge list of 3rd party title. Being able to say GTA V would have gone a long way. Pikmin 3 is a system seller for me though.

Now, way moreso than in the past, I perceive a surprisingly-big vacuum in the core gaming market. People are finally starting to sense that Halo/CoD/Gears of War aren't even games anymore, but commodified yearly updates without any purpose to exist other than to make a buck.
I'm not a Pollyanna about it -- I get that the primary purpose of Nintensonysoft is to make money -- but this is the first time in years where I've sat back and thought to myself, "Gee, I don't want to play any of this stuff."
Other than maybe the enhanced Arkham, not a single game in the announced Wii U lineup interests me in the least. You know things are dire when the fucking bullshit David Cage game is the only one I'm actually interested in hearing more about.
E3 isn't for the core market. The core market is the choir, and nobody gives a shit about preaching to them. E3 is for investors who need assurances that their company is tapping Bob and Linda Gruberman on Meadowlark Avenue. It does seem, however, that the core market is going seriously untapped in 2013. Is it just me, or was this year's E3 (quite unintentionally) the best advertisement for PC gaming ever?
