If you are among the first 5,000 persons to preorder these Blu-rays you get a free ticket to Prometheus in the theater! See Amazon links for details.

Just got my free ticket.

If the movie turns out to suck, can you still cancel your pre-order?:)

The trailers look promising, we shall see. So I wonder if this will be the trend for all releases before they even hit the theaters?

I ordered this morning using one-click and Prime and never got an email notification of the ticket.
I cancelled that order, then ordered by way of the shopping cart and it said explicitly that I qualified for the free ticket.
I am awaiting the email.

Basically, as I see it, you will be mailed a code to redeem
your free movie ticket via a website.

That code will be mailed out in the next few days.

I am surprised they are allowing this without committing
the customer to purchase. I mean, what stops me from
preordering, redeeming my code and canceling my order
afterwards?
...not like that's my plan, but it seems like someone is
setting themselves up for a possible loss here.

Pre-ordered, and like Steve there was a note in my cart saying I qualified for the ticket. Not too worried about this one sucking, and I pretty much buy all of Ridley Scott's movies anyway. Pretty cool promotion - thanks for the heads-up, Ron!!

a pre-order for a Blu-Ray that hasn't even been released in theaters yet? That's a first. Weird, but I'll give it a shot.

Amazon did the same for an order of MIB 3.

It's a gamble. I'm sure they know that there is the possibility of losses if everyone who got a free ticket cancelled their pre-order, but they're banking on people seeing the movie and not cancelling.
I placed an order. I not sure if it's going to work for the IMAX theater I'm planning to see it at, but worse case I have a pre order that I can cancel if I don't like the movie.

Surprised at the mediocre reviews posted on Amazon
from the folks that have already seen this film.

In any event, I just got my promotional code from Amazon
for my free movie ticket.

I don't rely on reviews. Prometheus is a movie that I will see with my own eyes, on the biggest digital 3D screen in the area.
I received my promotion code and used it to print off the ticket that will cover $10 of the $14.25 admission.

I just got my code. Very happy, and I'm not letting bad reviews ruin my day. I'm a sci-fi fanatic, and even if it's miles from the original 'Alien' movie in tone(as some reviews mention) I'll just be happy if it is a decent sci-fi film. I am one of the very few that thought 'Legend' from 1985 was a cinematic delight, and I believe it is considered(by basically every movie critic of the time) one of Scott's worst films. Have heart, buy some popcorn, and enjoy the show my friends!
