Yes.  Clue is great, but I LOVE 16 Candles!
I feel the same. Both will be mine, but 16 Candles is a masterpiece. In my opinion the John Hughes at his sharpest.

Excellent, excellent news on "Sixteen Candles".
Please, Universal, finally do these Hughes classics right: commentaries, deleted scenes, rehearsal footage, and retrospectives from the cast and crew.
Been waiting for deluxe treatment of all the Hughes films (this, Weird Science, Ferris, Breakfast Club, etc.) since the early days of DVD.
The films keep getting repackaged & released, but definitive editions haven't - truly a shame for these wonderful films.

Received my copy of 16 Candles today and just finished watching it.

Wow. Looks amazing -- like a brand new film.

Not a scratch or blemish to be seen anywhere. Crisply detailed throughout.
It's perfectly beautiful!

...and after all these years it's still a highly entertaining watch. Though
I can almost recite the film from memory, I still found myself laughing
several times over. I am kind of amazed that this film got a PG rating
for its content. With its language and brief frontal nudity, I am shocked
that it didn't get an "R." Somehow I am guessing this film came out
prior to the introduction of the PG-13 rating code.

Fans will be extremely happy with the quality of this Blu-ray.

I also received my copy of Sixteen Candles on bluray today.
I won't be able to watch it until Wednesday, but very excited to watch it again.
There's also a 10 part documentary as an extra I'll also be watching along side.

Did this get released early?
One minute is was available for preorder without an official release date and the next thing you know it shipped out. Very weird!

I'd seen Aug 28 and Sept 4, and still online it doesn't say available except at Amazon. Might just be a mistake

Just combined this with a WarGames preorder to get free shipping. Even with the wait I'll get it before I thought lol

The other thing with Sixteen Candles is that it was back ordered as it was a pre-order at Amazon.

Like I said, it became in-stock at Amazon and started shipping late last week.

When was that? It's showing ready to ship now
I pre ordered it a few weeks ago and as soon as I completed my pre-order they sent me an email that said it was on back order and for some time it was in back order status.
A few days ago is when I got my e-mail to tell me that it was back in stock.

Two things...

The title was announced some time ago without an actual
ship date.

Amazon only received a ship date sometime last week,
and those that had it on preorder were sent an email
indicating the date.

Next...

For those who had this title on preorder, check your invoice.

Amazon charged me $17.99 for this title. However the
price dropped to $12.99 on the day it shipped and Amazon
did not adjust the price.

I had to send them a letter of complaint. They were very
good at responding and refunded me $5, indicating an error
prevented them from dropping the price for preorders.
