Hi Mike, welcome to HTF! There are plenty of people here well-versed in 5.1 and 7.1 systems, and I'm sure they would be more than happy to share their experience with you. I upgraded my sound system about the time Lord of the Rings came out on DVD...full THX Ultra 2 7.1, and it sounds fantastic, especially with the 7.1 blu-rays that are available. The hardest aspect was finding a center channel speaker that I liked, but I finally did. Again, welcome to the forum!
