Greetings, A total newbie here, I tried searching for more info but I can seem to find any. I just migrated to BR and would like to purchase Zodiac on BR, I was very surprised to find that the SE version costs USD 150!!! http://www.amazon.com/Zodiac-Blu-ray-Jake-Gyllenhaal/dp/B001HUHBAE/ref=pd_cp_mov_0 there is also an imported 1 Disc Director's Cut that costs USD 21 http://www.amazon.com/Zodiac-Directors-Blu-ray-Mark-Ruffalo/dp/B0013BCWEW/ref=tmm_blu_title_0 according to this images posted here http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B0013BCWEW/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_2?ie=UTF8&index=2 they seem to have retained the docu. so what IS missing? Thanks RZ

I've never owned Zodiac on Blu-ray, but I reviewed the 2-disc Director's Cut DVD release at the end of 2007, and you can find that review here that describes all of the bonus material in that set.

As I remember, the Blu-ray release of the Director's Cut was concurrent with the DVD, and that review is also somewhere on the site and will describe what's on it. I doubt they needed two Blu-ray discs to put all the bonus material on the release, but that's just a guess.

You WANT the US version released by Paramount. It is far superior to the WB UK release. First, the UK is standard dolby digital only, not TrueHD. Second, Paramount used the VC-1 codec at higher bitrate so PQ subjectively better. Lastly, the documentary is in SD on the WB disc whereas it's in HD on the Paramount release. If you can find the US version at a decent price (tough since it's OOP), it's definitely the wiser choice.

Here's a hint.... ...if you still have a Blockbuster near you, see if they have it for rental. I was able to purchase a rental of the 2-disc of Zodiac on Blu from a Blockbuster for $10.

Is the theatrical version of Zodiac available on Blu-ray anywhere in the world?

The Blockbuster rental thing is a good idea. I can't figure out from that amazon link what features are included. My blu has two commentaries on disc one Disc two has five featurettes but I never watched them some don't know what the run time is for them. I have an extra HD DVD copy somewhere if you have a player. Btw welcome to HTF. Stop by the new member section when you get a chance. http://www.hometheaterforum.com/f/57769/new-member-introductions

Thank-you all for your advice. Alas, I do not reside in the States, so the Blockbuster option is no possible. Guess I shall try the used section on amazon.
