Costco has two budget Blu-ray players: the Sony BDP-S185 (at Costco as BDP-BX18) for $69.99, and the Panasonic DMP-BD75 (as DMP-BD755) for $59.97. A bit about my setup and situation: I'm using a 720p projector with HDMI video, analog RCA stereo audio. I'm going to be watching Blu-rays (obviously) as well as a lot of DVDs still. I won't be using Netflix or any other streaming video or audio services through the Blu-ray player as I already have my laptop connected to the projector. As you can see, I really don't need bells and whistles, just a player that handles well and offers great visuals. I noticed among mostly positive reviews a handful of not-so-great customer reviews for each of these models, but it also sounded like these problems could potentially be solved with firmware updates, or by swapping out the player for another one if you happen to grab one that gives you trouble. Any overwhelming preferences between the two? Perhaps a third I should look for elsewhere? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

Definitely the Panasonic. They make excellent players.

Does the Sony BDP-S185 (at Costco as BDP-BX18) play SACDs?
