Has anyone at Fox, Marvel or the Donners Co. discussed plans to expand their X-men universe of films, the way Disney is doing with the Avengers and Star Wars?

I didn't see a story about it from SDCC, but I could have missed it. I did read about an X-Force movie, which didn't sound like a sequel to DOFP.

Sam, Mark Millar talks a bit about this in the interview linked here:

http://www.comicbook...e/news/?a=84369

Go to about the 6 minute mark. Interestingly, he mentions that he thinks they could develop 5-10 separate franchises based on Fox's Marvel properties. But he's very vague.

I think that while Fox wants to follow the Marvel model, they don't have the confidence that they will be successful, so they are tentatively planning things but aren't committing publicly too far in advance. They're probably judging the success of each project and then deciding on future projects.

Here's a story today on Fox's plans for expanding their X-men series of films, with 5 to 10 spin offs.

Seems like things have changed from when Rothman and FOX wanted to kill this franchise quickly and sweep it under the rug with X:TLS

Marvel's success with the Avengers and related films have made everyone rethink whatever franchises they have. Add to that Disney's promising plans for Star Wars, Warner's success with Harry Potter, and the prolonged series of Twilight and Hobbit films, and Fox's new attitude makes sense. Of course, what's going to hurt is when the studios realize the marketplace can only support two or three of these franchises per year.

Matt, could you post the trailer here as well?

http://www.hometheat...eturning/page-4

My thread for this movie never went anywhere, and most all of the development info is in the other.

I think the trailer looks very promising, by the way.

Singer said that most of the visual effects are not finished and therefore this trailer would be a character piece. Combine what he showed here in this trailer with epic battles with giant robots and this could be pretty damn cool.

Here's hoping, anyway.

And could a mod please just merge this thread with Oscar's main thread?

Hard to judge by a trailer, even one as good as this, but I have high hopes that this will be the movie of the summer next year. There's nothing else I'm as intrigued by.

Also, if this thread isn't to be closed, the date should be changed in the title. The movie comes out May 23.

So about six months until this is out, but Singer has already announced the X-Men film.

Anna Paquin cut from film.  http://ca.ign.com/ar...-of-future-past

I'm getting less excited about this movie as the release date approaches.  it's obvious the film will focus more on the First Class cast and Wolverine.  Original X-Men characters are more in the sidelines and this news confirms it.

Since this is a sequel to First Class and the original cast got their 3 movies already, I'm fine with this except for maybe the continued focus on Wolverine.

Anna Paquin was fine in the version of the character portrayed in these films, but her Rogue wasn't really much like the comic character at all.

If she was only to be in one scene in this anyway, I don't think the cut is a big deal.

Anyway, I believe the below pic is the focus of this film.

It would have been cool to see the character again but yeah, it's not like she could have had too significant of a role if she was in one scene. Plus, movies are so bloated and overlong today that I'm glad that Singer is apparently willing to drop cool but ultimately superfluous scenes rather than making a needlessly lengthy movie.

I was under the impression that this was going to be filmed and shown in 48fps like The Hobbit. However, I just looked into that to see if there was more info and apparently that is not the case.

Looks like they were considering it but decided against it.

http://www.ign.com/a...leased-in-48fps

That's fine with me, as I didn't like the look of The Hobbit: AUJ in 48fps. I'd like an improvement to the blurry motion in 24fps film, especially for things like pans that become a blurry mess. But the "improvement" demonstrated with AUJ is not the solution I'd personally prefer.

Fassbender looks eerily like Charlton Heston in the photo.
