You do realize a few things:  about 70% of iPhones are sold abroad, and a large percentage of those sales are unsubsidized, and the "ARP" (average retail price) is ~$650?  So Apple is wildly successful selling iPhones at $600+  -- many of its competitors would love to have just that part of it business.

And of course it was hardly a difficult thing for Apple to change course and go subsidized domestically -- something the naysayers should have foreseen, instead of simply predicting failure for the iPhone.  So, no: I don't accept the "they were right" -- they were about as wrong as wrong can be.   And in the case of the naysayers who were Apple competitors, like the CEOs of Palm, RIM and Microsoft, they paid for it in blood: Palm with the demise of their company, RIM, heading that way, and its CEOs now on the street, and Microsoft with the utter decimation of its mobile market share, and a grave threat to Windows in the form of the iPad whose launch depended on the iPhone's prior success.

The Ipad has a long way to go to ever be a threat to windows.

Seriously?  Microsoft certainly thinks so, otherwise Windows 8 wouldn't exist in its present form. Windows computer sales have stopped growing thanks to it, the netbook market has been decimated.  HP, the world's top PC maker flirted with leaving the PC business altogether.  Apple is now the top PC maker by unit sales if you count tablets as PCs, and far and away the top by revenue and profit.  The PC future will only get ever more mobile.

A long way to go?  The iPad is far more of a clear and present danger to Windows in 2012 than the iPhone was in 2007 to WinMo, Blackberry, Symbian and Palm.

The iPad poses a triple threat: drawing people away from buying a new Windows PC; getting an iPhone; and getting them to switch to OS X.

This is why I'm a all Apple person. It started with a phone and now I'm fully loaded.

Apple right now has the hook effect. The crazy part is, I was a Microsoft Zealot having worked for them in the 90's. I still love their server products although I have to say UNIX/Linux is starting to draw me away in some areas now that I run a mixed environment.

Apple wants to sell "content" to the consumer. Games are one of many types of content. QED.

FoxConn spills some beans

http://www.tomsguide...news-15185.html

According to Gou, the company is making preparations to manufacture Apple's iTV device. However he added that development and manufacturing has yet to begin. Foxconn's recent 50-50 joint venture factory with Sharp in Japan is one of the preparations made for the new device, he said. Apple's iTV is slated to feature an aluminum construction, Apple's popular Siri, and FaceTime video calling.

Sharp screen tech + new body, facetime, apps.

Not about the bigscreen experience but in making TV more portable? http://blogs.forrest...the_tv_business I don't buy it AT ALL. That's what the iPad is for.

Interesting how you can't use AirPlay streaming from the Amazon Instant Video app to the Apple TV.
