Here's mine from this year. Very impressed with how this display looks when calibrated. PN64D7000 Samsung Plasma May Calibration, AVS709 windows, I1 Pro, Chromapure Pre Grayscale , using AVS709 Posted Image Pre Gamma, using AVS709. As you can see, there is a huge gamma dip because the windows are too large. The Accupel windows caused a very slight dip, and this DPG-1000 Im using now has small windows that did not seem to affect ABL at all. It is my feeling that correcting out this gamma dip may be bad practice, but of course Im not a pro :) Posted Image Pre Gamut Posted Image Post Grayscale Posted Image Post Gamma Posted Image Post Gamut (The D7000 has great color, but it does not dial in quite as accurately as the D8000, which is odd since they are the same panel) Posted Image With this display, 10pt is not functional in 3D mode, so you have 2pt white balance. Also, CMS settings carry over 3D Calibration, AVS709, Chromapure, I1 Pro Post 3D Grayscale Posted Image Post 3D Gamut Posted Image Here are the after charts, once calibrated with the Accupel 4000 in June, and then a September touchup. Both are I1 Pro, Accupel and Chromapure. Here are many runs I did with different sources, to see exactly what gamma was doing with window size. Pretty crazy stuff. Here is my 2009 Panny 32" LCD, bedroom tv and second tv during college football. This is DPG-1000, Chromapure and D3 Pro. I had to increase blue on the low and high end, to get the middle to smooth out Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

In case some one is curious, here is the Samsungs 96hz Cinema Smooth mode ON vs OFF. This mode causes the MLL to increase because of the refresh rate, so I wanted to see if affected the calibration negatively. Grayscale CS OFF Posted Image Grayscale CS ON Posted Image Gamma CS OFF Posted Image Gamma CS ON Posted Image No biggie with the grayscale, but it does affect gamma. I've been leaving it off because it makes the blacks worse, but it does smooth out the image.

Great post calibration on the Samsung. It's good to hear the post calibration experience "after watching several hours... [made you] very happy with the results." I'm wondering, on the Vizio, it looks like in the grayscale you are deficient in red at the low end and blue at the high end. Is this a two point grayscale system? If so, you could probably lower blue at the low end one or two clicks and bring up blue at the high end. Have you tried this to balance white point all the way across?

Yeah, if you look at the pre, red is real high on the high end. The controls did not work well, and thats about the best I could do to keep blue on top. As I tried to add more blue on the high end, it fracked 20-70 up.

Jason, I am thinking that your contrast may me too high on the Visio. What is the fL reading at 100 % ?

Dont remember the exact Contrast setting. As I adjusted it up, I could see Grayscale issues, so I backed it down until they went away, then adjusted backlight to get around 40fL on a full field pattern.
