Fabulous Films in the UK is releasing season 1 of "Tour of Duty" with ALL the original music intact, including the theme song, "Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones. This is scheduled for release on Nov21 and is a region 2 release.

Finally this classic show released the way it should be, unlike the raped, pathetic version released by Sony.

It will also feature a documentary filmed 2 months ago which will be spread out over the 3 seasons. :D

Obviously music rights in the UK are easier to clear? This show had tons of classic 60's tracks which Sony stripped from their release and replaced with muzak.

Could also be that it is priced to cover the cost of the music. Amazon UK currently has it for 35 pounds. I am not complaining about the price. Just pointing out it is considerably more expensive than the Region 1 sets.

And I think that's great, most fans would be happy to pay even more if it means getting the original music intact. Companies far too often "ripoff" the consumer by doing excatly what Sony did, getting rid off the music in order to avoid paying for music rights, thinking the fans wont notice or wont care. It shows a complete lack of consideration to the fans, the ones who made this show popular in the first place. Chris

Received mine and have started trawling through it. Pretty shocked at the picture quality though, not as good as the Sony release but the original music is the big winner although audio is only in 2.0. Be aware that Episode 4 is missing the original music. Apparently Fabulous Films got the master tapes mixed up  and didn't check this and the result is that episode without the original music!!! Anyone who has this version will be able to have a replacement disc sent to them when the mistake is rectified. Whooops!!!

The BBFC yesterday passed 10 of the second season's 16 episodes. No release date is mentioned on the BBFC listing page. Could be that the other six episodes have already been passed (six VHS releases were passed by the BBFC back in 1988 through to 1990).

The third season of Tour of Duty has a UK release date of Monday 12th November. A boxset of all three seasons is also being released on the same day (source: Amazon UK). The studio is listed as 'Fremantle Home Entertainment' on their Amazon UK pre-order listing pages, but these are I think Fabulous Films titles.
