I loved The Amazing Spider-Man and I'm really looking forward to the second installment now that the origin is out of the way.
Shailene Woodley has been cast as Mary Jayne Watson
http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2012/10/shailene-woodley-confirmed-to-portray-mary-jane-in-the-amazing-spider-man-films
Also, Mark Webb has confirmed that Electro will be a (the?) villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and he coyly addressed the rumors of Jaime Foxx being offered the role without confirming that yet.

Andrew Garfield confirms that they start production in February.
http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/173613-february-start-planned-for-the-amazing-spider-man-2
Also, in an interview with E!, Garfield spoke about where he wants the sequel to go: "I feel really excited, I feel like we got over a hump with our first one," he said, "We had to reinstate the character, and we had to reinvigorate an audience to the character. And I hope to bring more of this theme—the theme of the orphan. I wanna keep exploring that theme of being fatherless, being motherless, searching for purpose and finding a purpose within himself, being a self-made man, I guess."
In case you think differently, Garfield takes his role as Spider-Man very seriously: "It is a responsibility to play that role, and I don't take it lightly. I think there's so much to explore with that mythology and within the tension between living a double life, struggling with being good, struggling with choosing good behavior over bad behavior, with the pressures of a city on your shoulders."

I just hope it's better than the first one.
^^ joke (I hope)
I feel this way. Thought the first one was a complete non event.
So I wonder what costume Electro will have. I doubt it will the traditional star bolts face mask although I would jump for joy if it was.

In an interesting bit of geek news, apparently Paul Giamatti is in talks to play Rhino. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/paul-giamatti-talks-play-rhino-415899 I just hope the movie doesn't get too "villain heavy". We already have Electro. Harry Osborn probably will just be in the friend role and not a villain yet, but I was hoping that Norman Osborn would have a significant antogonistic role in the film (if the character is in this one) though not as the Green Goblin, just as Norman. And that the movie would lay the groundwork for Norman becoming the Goblin in part 3. So I thought Electro and Norman Osborn would have been enough. Maybe they aren't doing much with Norman Osborn in this one either, or maybe they just want another "heavy" for Spider-Man to deal with who isn't the main antagonist. But if they are looking at an actor like Giamatti, then I wouldn't think it would just be a minor role.

Just watched Amazing Spider-Man and really liked it. I have some minor quibbles about it but i did like Andrew better than Tobey.

Filming started Monday. The entire shoot will be done in New York City and New York State. Sony has also released the official synopsis and cast list: http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/174873-the-synopsis-for-the-amazing-spider-man-2 Colm Feore is part of the cast. Do you think he'll be playing Norman Osborn? I think he has the right look for the character. Also, Paul Giamatti is confirmed as well.

The guy looks young. Who cares about his actual age? He doesn't really have spider-powers either.

Here's the new Spidey suit!

They are filming in NYC today, so I'll bet there will be lots of spy pictures of the new suit in action on the streets of New York soon. It makes sense that they'd release this promotional look at the new suit today. I think it looks great! Much more like the comics. For reference, here's the suit from the first film:

Yes. Looks good. Have to see how the gloves and feet look before committing to it. but the eyes alone look much better.

Gloves and feet are pretty much all classic comics spidey. Pictures are out there. I can post later if no one else does.
