Keeping it separate from the TV titles discussion in the TV on DVD folder, this Network DVD thread is for it's film and TV film titles.

Upcoming releases (source of release date is Network DVD's forthcoming releases page on it's website):

Monday 25th July:

Intern

Monday 19th September:

The Ebony Tower
Long Day's Journey Into Night
The Merchant of Venice

Monday 7th November:

The Little Match Girl (1987) - (starring Twiggy, Roger Daltry, Michael Hordern, Stratford Johns and Jimmy Jewel).

One of their recent TV movie releases was Harnessing Peacocks (1993).

*****

One of Network's film titles I've been considering getting for a long time is the first Prom Night (1980), but I read on or off the web that the image is zoomed in (Network DVD's listing page says it's been digitally remastered). Has anyone here got this title? There's a boxset with all four original Prom Night movies, but looking at DVD Compare's pages for the three sequels the best versions to get aren't all in the same region.

Had wanted to get the Charles Bronson film The Evil That Men Do (1984) as well, but the UK DVD version is cut.

One of Network's other film titles is Who Killed Teddy Bear? (1965), starring Sal Mineo. Below is the Review review (via DVD Compare) of the film:

It isn't that it is zoomed in - but it is distorted. It doesn't play properly in 43 or 16x9 mode - one way it is too stretched and the other it is too squished. The widescreen US release (the remastered 16x9 one) has the exact same problem.

Good grief, a reply to a post from last July. Thanks for the likely answer about the picture problem with Network's release of Prom Night (1980).
