But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Good to hear that they are already discussing the sequel.

Q: With the

Modok

conversations, at what point do they get crushed by, “No, we can’t put that in the movie?”
SM: Well, at first, “We’ll save that for Captain American 2.” We’re sort of just opening up what are all the things we could be drawing from? So things like that come up.

Q: Do you know who the villain of Captain America 2 would be?
SM: It’s undetermined. I will pass that question, how about that?
Q: When would you be scheduled to work on a sequel?
SM: We’ve already made the deal so I was at Marvel last week. We’re talking and passing stuff back and forth all the time. They just sent me a big PDF file of comics.

That title's a pretty huge hint where they're going with the sequel.
I'm glad they're giving the sequels names rather than just Captain America 2, Thor 2, etc.

Thanks for sharing that. It's been a while since we've heard anything about this one.
"Captain America" might be my favorite of the stand-alone Marvel movies, and it's the sequel I'm most worried about.

Chris Evans talks about how some of the Steve Rogers stuff that was cut from The Avengers will be used in The Winter Soldier.

When asked about the sequel's plot, Evans remained coy, but revealed that it will shed further light on his character by including scenes cut from The Avengers. He told Collider: "The most I am looking forward to is exploring a little bit of Steve's… they had all those deleted scenes with The Avengers because a lot of those scenes are for Captain 2, you know what I mean? It was good stuff, but it all felt like that was his story. It is a different movie. With The Avengers there was so much to cram in. Like I said, it was a long movie anyway. So I think making it any longer would have just been exhausting."
I don't know if these scenes would be directly transplanted or re-filmed, but the one deleted scene I saw so far was excellent, so I'd be happy to see that kind of stuff in The Winter Soldier in any form.

Also, that Variety article confirms the return of Sam Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and Cobie Smulders in The Winter Soldier.

Great news about Scarlett Johansson. Given this movie's title, she almost had to be in it.
Her having been working for the Soviets/Russians during the same period the Winter Soldier would have been active.
I'd love to see a stand-alone "Black WIdow" movie that's almost an inverted Bond picture, but until then this is good news. With all of the "Avengers" returnees, though, I hope Caps doesn't get lost in the shuffle. It has to be his movie first and foremost.

Emily VanCamp cast as female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier No word on whether the character she's playing is Sharon Carter or not. This casting's bit of a surprise since she wasn't on any of the short lists for the role, but IMO it's a fantastic choice. She proved on "Everwood" that she makes an interesting love interest, and she's proved on "Revenge" that she can be tough.

She's purdy. I liked her on Everwood, but I haven't seen her other stuff. Is she good on Revenge?

Yeah, she's fine on Revenge. She's a bit like an older Jennifer Lawrence, without the bubbly personality.

Does this mean Capt America is actually behind the murder of David Clark? Or maybe he's also trained by Takeda, and former lover of Amanda Clark? Or maybe Jack Bristow, saved from near drowning, is secretly turned into Capt America to fight those trying to take over his fathers bar! I'm very exited for how Revenge uses this development.
