My three favorite drama series of all time. The acting, directing and scripts set the gold standard for tv series,.

Can't argue with any of those selections but I love too many black and white shows to narrow it down to 3. 20 maybe but not 3.

Great choices, Amy, especially that all but forgotten RICHARD BOONE SHOW. Now I really want to see it  since you rank it so highly. I'm pretty sure my local video store has a few episodes in their collection.

I also have to agree with Neil on this, very tough to narrow it down to three, but here goes:

1. THE FUGITIVE

2. THE TWILIGHT ZONE

3. I SPY

Wait a minute...let me rethink that and get back to you....Posted Image

Hello Professor

There are certainly many more, but I was having a senior moment and just thought of my top three choices.

2:  The Twilight Zone.

3: Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

And, named separately because it's from a completely different era, Lost.

I almost wrote Dark Shadows Dark Shadows Dark Shadows for the three drama series.  I watch at least once per week episodes of the following 3.

Dark Shadows

Peyton Place

Voyage to the bottom of the Sea

The entire three have B/W episodes in their first seasons. Voyage first season is considered the best of the series. I would venture to say there are more classic episodes in seasson 1 but i have always said that i can find good episode's in all four seasons.

Peyton Place again is very good in the first 3 seasons. The camera work the scripts all what Amy described are in that show. Certain writers would write only for one character. The Martin Peyton Character had it's own writer.

Dark Shadows had many good scenes before Barnabas took a major bite (sorry) out of the storyline. The 1897 storyline along with the 1795 were fantastic!!

I also very much enjoy Star Trek  Deep Space Nine. The scripts were very well written.

The Wild Wild West to me is just pure fun to watch from all angles.

I would also choose DS and PP (no surprise to anyone who has read my posts over the years), and add Gunsmoke. Honorable mention to Perry Mason, Law & Order SVU, The Forsyte Saga (the original), and General Hospital for the years 1978-83, 1992-96.
Bring "The continuing story of PEYTON PLACE" home on DVD: the one that started it all- from Dallas and Dynasty to Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl!!! Starting this May, see the legendary saga starring Mia Farrow, Ryan O'Neal, Barbara Parkins, and Oscar-winner Dorothy Malone on DVD thru...

Naked City

Route 66

The Defenders

However, as Danny and others noted, narrowing down the list is difficult.
