Thought I'd highlight a label in Italy called Sinister Films. I've just picked up their releases of Macabre, The 27th Day, The Man Who Turned to Stone, Frankenstein's Daughter and Invasion of the Saucer Men.

They are all OAR and anamorphic.

All titles have the original English soundtrack and the Italian subtitles are removable.

They can be bought via Amazon.it

Do note, the DVD cover art has the titles in Italian, and those are what you have to search for.

They are (same order as above) Macabro, i 27 Giorni del Planeta Sigma, Prigionieri del Eternita, La Figeia di Frankenstein and Invasiori Dall'Altro Mondo

Invasion of the Saucermen is, to my knowledge, not in release anywhere else - the Australian one went OOP years ago.

It's worth noting if you order from Amazon Italy that the standard shipping rate seems to be the same for however many titles you order to be shipped to the US (14 euros - around 20.5 US dollars). This seems to be much fairer than other European retailers!

I think that's because they base their shipping on weight - that's the case when sending it to the UK, anyway: it is 6euro for the first 0.5kg

Well that's a nice guess. However, after ordering several box sets from Amazon Germany (a total of 24 discs), the shipping rate still came to 14 euros - so I think the real answer is that Amazon Germany and Amazon Italy just now have a flat shipping rate to the USA.

Sinister Films is run by Luigi "Star Crash" Cozzi, so he's got a great knowledgeable background in cult movies. It's nice to have people with experience behind releases like this, IMO. Think: Bill Lustig & Blue Underground. Sinister also has an anamorphic disc of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, too.

has anyone seen the Sinister version of REPTILICUS ? I was wondering if it's the US version or the longer Danish version.

I have it and I can inform you it is the AIP print with the added "acid slime" and missing the flying scenes and a song etc not the Danish version unfortunately...

Thanks for the info. I couldn't decide whether give it a shot. I already have the AIP version , so you saved me an unneeded purchase.
Maybe at some point someone will release a definitive Reptilicus with both versions

I just got Invasori Dall' Altro Mondo ( Invasion of the saucer Men) in this series. Not bad at all . Looks like a 16mm transfer , of possibly from the old Sony VHS, but definitely enjoyable . The menu was easy to navigate, and to get to the English version. (This is one of 4 AIP films never to make it to DVD: Teenage Werewolf , Teenage Frankenstein, Colossal Man).Does anyone know what other films are in this series from Sinister ? It's hard to track them because you need to know the Italian titles.

If it's a rare classic film, safe bet the Italian DVD is a boot. I purchased a DVD of the rare NIGHT HAS A THOUSAND EYES ('45) from Amazon.it; the DVD distributor was something called A&R Productions. The quality was barely better than my old VHS rip of an AMC airing from the '90s. In the case of the AIP titles, James Nicholson's widow Susan Hart famously protects those rights, and fans stateside have been clamoring for legit DVD releases.

Since we're talking Italian vendors, a bit of ancient-Roman Latin is in order: Caveat emptor. ;)

On a recent visit to Amazon -France ( to purchase the 1950's version of the Golem) I noticed that there are now a few different versions of Reptilicus available from European distributors -some on Blu-ray . Does anyone know if the original Danish version of the film with the "flying " scenes is among them?

Yes, subsequent to my post about the awful Italian DVD of NIGHT HAS A THOUSAND EYES I picked up the (apparently legit) German DVD and am very pleased with it.

Many catalog titles in the Universal library (which includes pre-1948 Paramount titles) sprout up in official or at least quality DVD releases in Europe but not Stateside.

Not a very reliable label...
Yes , Sinister is not reliable , but I was wondering about the other labels offering Reptilicus , some on Blu-ray disc. My main question is whether any of these discs contain the original Danish version of the film which contains some effects scenes of the monster . cut from the US release. Anyone own any of these European release Blu-rays ?
