I'm looking for guidance on a good RSS app for my iPhone and desktop use. I'm currently using Google Reader and Mobile RSS. Is there a better RSS web service and / or iPhone app to use?

I've used RSS readers, both a standalone app and Firefox's built-in service, before on the desktop, but they became cumbersome and I quit.

But I realized that I'm wasting time checking websites for updates when there are none -- much of my reading has become blog-centric like DaringFireball and Ars Technica. An RSS reader would help with this.

A quick search lead me to Google Reader and then Mobile RSS free for the iPhone. This is a pretty good combination, since my RSS reading is up to date no matter what device I'm reading from. But Google Reader is...well...it's a Google service. The UI leaves a bit to be desired, notably the most important aspect, my subscriptions, are put at the bottom of the list as if it's the least important aspect.

Mobile RSS is a nice app, but I can't figure out how to add subscriptions from with.in the app -- I have to go to Google Reader. And the app mimics Google Reader's UI, making my subscriptions the least important part of the design.

I've switched completely to Feedly for iPad and iPhone. Don't use Mac / desktop to browse my feeds anymore. Am downloading the Reeder beta 1, to see if it can talk to my Feedly account.

Reeder is no longer a free beta. It's on the Mac App Store for $9.99. Good for them. Bummer for me. I liked having it for free. But I use it so little, it's not work $10 to me.
