I wonder what elements they're working with on The Unguarded Moment. The Region 1 disc - part of a box set - was appalling. I'd gladly double-dip if this new disc was of good quality.

Me too. The US disc, I believe, is now manufactured as a DVD-R (after initially being pressed the TCM Archives titles eventually all go MOD), so that is another incentive for the UK disc.

The Man Who Never Was is also available as a Blu-ray disc. I've ordered it and will advise if it worth buying.

I have The Man Who Never Was blu-ray. It is a slight step up from the DVD but otherwise nothing special. It has long been a favourite WW2 film of mine so I had to have it.

I don't have The Man Who Never Was on DVD so I can't compare the BRD to it. I found the BRD to be quite good.

As is my custom, after watching the film I went to the IMDB to see other people's thoughts. There were some interesting comments about Oswald Morris's lighting. If these comments are correct, that would explain why the BRD does not have a obvious high definition "pop".

I agree with Keith's comment about Odeon's Blu-ray of THE MAN WHO NEVER WAS, in that it's not a big step up from the Fox DVD. The trouble is that the picture is fairly soft (it also has the same scratches as are on the DVD).

I read those comments on IMDB about the cinematography and profoundly disagree. I've always thought the photography was excellent.
