Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Offers Range of
Enhanced Extras on Digital Movies
New Features include Search, Social Sharing and More
Culver City, Calif. (March 9, 2011) – Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) today announced a range of enhanced extra features on select digital movie purchases, enabling movie fans to engage with SPHE’s content in innovative, interactive ways.
These new features include functionalities that leverage internet-connected digital platforms and include the following:
- “Enhanced Search” functionality utilizes the latest facial recognition and speech-to-text software and a database of frame-level information including dialog, actors and character names to return search results that link to exact spots in the movie where the keyword appears.
- The “Clip & Share” feature allows viewers to choose among a selection of film clips that can be shared instantly on Facebook and Twitter.
- “Interactive Music Playlist” links to the exact scene where a song is featured in a film as well as to the iTunes Music Store for easy purchase of soundtrack albums and select songs.
SPHE’s enhanced digital movie features are currently available through iTunes on recent releases. Burlesque and The Other Guys contain all three features. Saltand Resident Evil: Afterlife contain “Enhanced Search” and “Clip & Share.” Available on iTunes March 22, The Tourist will offer “Clip & Share” and “Enhanced Search.” On the same day, How Do You Know will offer “Clip & Share.”
