As luck would have it, Vin Scully was calling that game.  And he handled that moment as only he could...

Unfortunately, I can't find video of the moment.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself.Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

^ Maybe it's because I've had those same thoughts (in a far less articulate way) but I think that's a great piece. It's a very accurate assessment of today's audiences, movies, studios and even society.

Yeah i gotta say i was watching the new trailer for Pacific Rim, all i could think was that it looked like a video game and not a film, maybe it will be great but it looked like it was a CGI fest, i love Guillermo del Toro's Spanish films, for me Pan's Labyrinth is a masterpiece and i even enjoyed the Hellboy films but Pacific Rim looks more video game than film, hopefully i am wrong on that as usually del Toro injects interesting things into his films.

I'll provide the beer if you provide the bagels.

The three of you just made me laugh so hard.  Moe in particular...your timing was just perfect.

Oh, and it's nice to see a modern director exposing and criticizing the abomination (IMO) that Hollywood has become.

Seems like the Aurens video game can't be far away . . .

Actually, "the Aurens video game" (for PlayStation 3) has been out since 2011.

It's called "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception".

Have a look at the trailer for it, which appeared in December 2010:

I'm not a video-gamer, but I'm told that it's one of the more highly regarded ones,

with terrific 'play' and sensational graphics. The intro and set-up are all about TE,

and refers to clues to a quest in TE's notebooks, but I think that's where it stops

(don't quote me!). If you type in the game title on YouTube, you can find numerous

lengthy clips of sample 'play' sequences. I shudder to imagine what TE would have

thought about all this. Have fun.

Further to my last post about the LOA video game, if you do want to watch the trailer (worth it),

be sure to first click on "YouTube — Watch on YouTube", then set the preferences 'gear' to "720p-HD"

and also hit "full screen". Good 'eye candy'.

Here's a bit more, in a 5-minute clip of some desert action from the game:

Not really TE, but impressive. Enjoy.

A further PS to all this advanced silliness: I gather the plot hinges on a ragtag (always 'ragtag') group

of adventurers seeking something or other (probably 'untold treasure'), hinted at by TE's journals,

and somehow connected to Sir Francis Drake (!!!???), all of which leads to a dangerous (of course) journey

to the lost city of Ubar— the 'Atlantis of the Sands' — in the Empty Quarter of Saudi Arabia.

If you open the YouTube clip entitled "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (The Movie)" — 3hr16min long,

posted 12 April 2012 by Andy Gilleand — all the TEL rationale is explained from the 43- to the 47-minute mark.

In the meantime, here's a screen grab of the TE stuff on the heroes' table:
