It's a respectable looking real 3D transfer. Not as much "in yo' face" as I'd like though. But worth the current $22.99 (54% off) on Amazon.

First impression of Rio 2, resulting probably from better detail in CGI technique and technical upgrade, gave me a strong first impression.  Enjoyed the numerous 3D layering added to the waves of people in crowd scenes as they holiday on the beach.  CGI improvements include  experiencing more detail to individual faces as depth increases, - (figures get smaller as you look to the beach's horizon).  Very cool visual improvements.  IMO, the story is less entertaining than the original.  YMMV

Being less entertaining corresponds to bits I've read of reviews, the rest sounds promising, just need to decide on the USA copy or wait 6 days and see if a UK release has a slip case,I try to buy region free despite having an Oppo zone free player as my 80 yr old Dad and 79 yr old mum love 3D to lol.

The PR company sent me the original release for review instead of Rio 2, and we've been trying to get that rectified. Hopefully, it'll come tomorrow and I can offer my two cents on it (especially if they send the 3D as promised).

Hi. Just saw the Need for Speed 3-D Blu Ray on Amazon.co.uk at a reasonable price but its Region B. Any idea why movies like this one and Frozen 3-D are only released outside USA (even Australia has a release apparently)?

Raj,

Welcome to HTF.

I can give you the answer in one word: Disney

They aren't being very generous with their 3D titles
domestically.

There is a rumor Frozen may make it to 3D here in the
states for Christmas but I am not very confident it will happen.

We should know in the next few weeks

Quite often Amazon are wrong with the region coding, if it's Disney i would expect it to be Region A,B,C but you never know.

I am surprised that Frozen is available in 3D on Starz on demand but not in 3D on Blu-ray in the US.

Need for Speed 3-D Region A is available as an import from some other Region A countries.  The Hong Kong version is available from outlets such as YesAsia.com & dddhouse.com with original English audio & other alternatives. Or the Korean Version for $49.99 USD with Free International Shipping included.

Argh! We're going to have to wait a bit longer for the Rio 2 review. The PR firm sent me a 3D copy which arrived very early this morning, all right, but once again it was the original Rio and not the sequel (I reviewed both Rio in 2D and 3D years ago). The quest for it continues....

Well we saw HTTYD 2 at the cinema, to be fair it was on a minor screen after leaving it so long before going, total of 9 of us in there!. I won't go into the farce of our experience though.
The film itself was enjoyable enough but I think I prefer the original, on this screen there was good depth and colours but not really the pop out I expected, some lovely scenes to look at but I'm sure this will look so much better at home. I will be buying the BD as soon as its avaliable.
