NEW PRONTOTUNES APPLICATION ALLOWS TWO-WAY APPLE iTUNES AND APPLE TV INTEGRATION WITH PHILIPS PRONTO CONTROL PANELS
Integrators are now able to offer full two-way control over Apple digital media seamlessly via a Pronto control panel.
Leuven, Belgium – August 24, 2010 – Philips Pronto, the value leader in two-way control solutions for the home, has joined forces with Australian developer ProntoProject.com to develop ProntoTunes, which provides two-way control over Apple iTunes, Apple TV and Apple AirPort Express via a Philips Pronto control panel. The new application offers integrators a visually stunning, feature rich control application for Pronto control panels.
ProntoTunes’ two-way interface application allows integrators a solution to seamlessly control Apple iTunes, Apple TV and Apple Airport Express digital media via Pronto control panels from anywhere in the home. To access and play digital media, users simply scroll through their library and play any of the available albums, artists, genres, playlists, movies, TV shows and more using the Pronto scroll wheel. The ProntoTunes application automatically discovers new media and instantly integrates it into the users’ media list. Cover art is displayed for the current playing file, whether it be music, movies or TV, and its SmartCache functionality stores large data, such as cover art, so users will not have to wait for it the next time they return to that selection. The robust integration of ProntoTunes supports a multitude of functions that portrays the familiar feel of an iPod, making it an easy transition for end users who are used to their iTunes control.
Integration and set up of ProntoTunes with a Pronto control panel is seamless for custom installers. Once the application is downloaded, installers simply navigate to the ProntoTunes module and choose to pair the remote to the appropriate Apple solution. ProntoTunes automatically discovers other iTunes and AppleTV players on the network, and pairing is done from the convenience of the Pronto control panel. To ensure an immediate response time, ProntoTunes controls the AppleTV via IP, not IR and a signal indicator on the control panel provides feedback of signal strength.
ProntoTunes also enables multi-zone control over Apple iTunes, Apple TV and Apple Airport Express as zones can be switched and turned on/off with a simple touch of the control panel. Custom installers can assign custom volume controls to each library as well as zone as well as enable startup commands for when switching libraries (i.e. change amp input). The application also allows integrators to adjust most settings, such as: language, use of hard buttons, and advanced settings allowing audio control for multiple instances of Apple TV and Apple iTunes.
"We are very excited to be able to offer our integrators a solution for one of the most widely used multi-media applications in the world," said Rudy Musschebroeck, marketing manager for Philips Pronto. "ProntoTunes, along with the growing amount of third party applications, provide our integrators with a great opportunity for future sales as well as the a bility to go back to existing customers."
ProntoTunes was developed by third-party developer ProntoProjects.com exclusively for Philips Pronto control panels. The company has also developed other Pronto modules such as ProntoPic, a digital picture frame application that works with Flickr and Picasa web albums, ProntoSqueeze, parental controls, and more. Because Pronto utilizes an open approach to their renowned ProntoScript technology, third-party developers are encouraged to develop their own modules and applications that help broaden the functionality of Pronto control panels.
ProntoTunes is compatible with TSU9400, TSU9600 and TSU9800 control panels and is available now. Certified Pronto installers may download the module at www.prontoprojects.com. The module can be purchased for $50 with a valid Pronto serial number. Multiple licenses are also available. Custom Installers can check out the ProntoTunes solution at Pronto’s CEDIA EXPO booth #2828.
