An all-too-familiar-headline.

There has been talk for a considerable amount of time

regarding these 3D displays that need no glasses to view.

However, early reports indicate that the technology is long

from being perfected. Let's see what Toshiba can do with it

and how comparable it is to current 3D display technology.

As I have understood it, the barrier to work through isn't having 3D without glasses, as the new Nintendo DS will have and the next gen of phones, it's making it work in a wide viewing angle. You look at the DS head on and it works great.....but your buddy comes up to see what your doing from the side and he's seeing double...

Who would go for that?

You will notice that there are no movie theaters showing glasses-less 3D.

Toshiba provided further details today. Two sizes are available: 12 and 20 inch. The 12 inch will be $1400. Ignoring the viewing angle for a moment, I don't think a 12 or even 20 inch screen is going to provide an immerse experience.
