The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain!
If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

The Specials

--Amazon has an EXCLUSIVE LITHOGRAPH CEL available with it's 2-disc DVD (price not listed/unavailable) and Blu-ray ($23.99) copies of Batman: Under the Red Hood. This edition comes with an Amazon-exclusive full-color animation 3" x 5" litho cel (left) assembled into a color-printed sealed mat with certificate of authenticity information printed on the back. Here is the cel image:

--Best Buy has a rather confusing situation with the pricing of it's copies of Batman: Under the Red Hood. Best Buy has an EXCLUSIVE RED HOOD FIGURINE (Approx. 3" tall) ON-PACK of its Blu-ray and 2-disc DVD versions. The flyer lists a price of $22.99 for the BD version/figurine, NO PRICE for the 2-disc DVD and $12.99 for the 1-disc DVD. bestbuy.com lists a $22.99 for the BD/Figuring, $19.99 for BD/No figurine, $19.99 for 2-disc DVD/figurine, $16.99 for 2-disc DVD/No figurine and $12.99 for the 1-disc DVD. So, it appears as if you are paying a premium of $1 for each inch of the height of the Red Hood figurine if that's what you choose to do.

Wanted Clash and was hoping that someone would have it on Blu around $20. Oh well.

Anyone else notice that awhile back when so of the studios gave PPV a 28 day window (cutting out Nexflix and RedBox... have you seen any commercial for PPV movies say "its not in the mail or in that machine... its only on PPV"... anyway, that was when the good ($20 BluRay) deals really dryed up? Or am I looking at it to deeply?

I'm still rather torn on what I'm going to do about BSG. Do I spring for the complete series set or pick up the season sets as they come out? Chances are I'm going the series set later this year or next year; it's just not a show I NEED to have right now. I will be stopping in at Target this week for the new Batman movie. GI Joe is gonna be a plan only when it drops in price. I already have the old Rhino DVD and haven't watched that in a couple years.

Thanks, as always, Mike. Makes my life easier by not having to track down 18,000 ads per week. I only need the WRU and the Fry's ad.

I was planning on picking up The Prowler on Blu-ray but $25 is pretty steep.

Thanks for the prices, guys!

Looking at Amazon's prices, it'll be at least $100 more to buy the single season sets and The Plan than what they're charging for the series set. I'm so glad that I didn't wait for the single sets because I paid about $175 for the entire series which is way cheaper than the insane prices that they charge for the single seasons.

Absolutely true. I guess what stops me is the price tag on the complete series and having to hand it over in one transaction instead of spreading it out. Kinda makes me think "ouch" or something stupid like that. It's much smarter to go the complete series route and be done with it, obviously. The other part of the thought process is how many times I'm actually going to rewatch the series. Am I just getting it to have BSG on the shelf or am I getting it because I legitimately want it.

Ah, the way my mind works!

I would bet the complete series of BSG will become available now and again for a seriously good bargain price...

I also linked Ken's Clash of the Titans combo review. I'm trying to get in the habit of making it part of my personal routine for posting a review -- if there's a WRU, add the link.

Not really sure what you're saying there, but maybe related, Blockbuster has a 28 day window on many movies just for rental purpose now, but I doubt that has anything to do with prices of new releases for retail.

What is affected besides the rental window is these 28 day rental window discs are completely/totally featureless.
