Good receiver? Any alternatives? (1 Viewer)

I'm looking into getting a mid-range home theater set up. I went to Frys yesterday, and the guy there recommended an Onkyo 708. I can't find any reviews on it, but do you guys think it's a pretty good midrange setup?

Can you recommend any similar-featured alternatives?

The problem is that the Onkyo is a brand new receiver. I like the Onkyo brand (I had an Onkyo receiver for a couple years, upgraded to a Yamaha but was never displeased with the Onkyo).


Judging based purely on specs I would recommend it. Definitely go to Fry's and have them test drive it for you--compare its sound with the same speakers to several other brands with comparable features.
