Ok, this is a bit of a rant.  Setting up a Konica Minolta Bizhub in Leopard is basically one of the most frustrating things in the world.

While the print system in Snow Leopard is nice for home users, it is just a mess as far as business copy centers with access controls.

So, you need to pass a password to the printer to do a job?  Prepare for a crapload of work in terminal, and everytime they update drivers?  You get to do it again!

We spent today refixing a set of 3 MacBooks which all lost the ability to print to the color bizhub because, low and behold, a new update broke the password send, and I had a stack of pissed off people.

Now, this could be all Konica's fault, that the driver needs to be better formed to allow within it a place to put this.  Then again, I could get around all of this is I could change the IPP URL easily graphically from http://ipaddress/print to http://ipaddress/ipp  but I go through the same BS in terminal to do that too.

Argh.  Finally got around it by just making a special shared printer on their server and mapping to it.

Too much hastle if it's going to reset everytime they update :(

But the printer controls still are one of those things that leave a huge amount to be desired.. we've run into the same thing with the need to have unique IPP profiles (for multi-output print servers, which may have multiple independent IPP URLs)
