In a nutshell, 200MB for $15 per month, 2GB for $25 per month tethering is an addition $20 per month. iPad customers get the $25 plan with no contracts.

Existing customers keep their current plans, probably until they renew. I am guessing AT&T launched this now because of the upcoming iPhone release.

UPDATE: AT&T is now saying that you can keep your unlimited data plan (if you currently have one) when you upgrade to a new phone. However, if you want tethering, you will need to upgrade to a new plan.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a damned shame that a field as potentially dynamic and vital as journalism should be overrun with dullards, bums, and hacks, hag-ridden with myopia, apathy, and complacence, and generally stuck in a bog of stagnant mediocrity. - Hunter S. Thompson, 1958, from cover letter he wrote for a newspaper job.
