YOUTH IN REVOLT is the story of Nick Twisp – a unique, but affable teen with a taste for the finer things in life like Sinatra and Fellini – who falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders while on a family vacation. But family, geography and jealous ex-lovers conspire to keep these two apart. With Sheeni’s encouragement, Nick abandons his dull, predictable life and develops a rebellious alter ego: Francois. With his ascot, his moustache and his cigarette, Francois will stop at nothing to be with Sheeni, and leads Nick Twisp on a path of destruction with unpredictable and uproarious consequences.
YOUTH IN REVOLT is based on the novel “Youth in Revolt: the Adventures of Nick Twisp” by C.D. Payne and was adapted for the screen by Gustin Nash (10, Charlie Bartlett). It was produced by David Permut (Face/Off, Prayers for Bobby) and executive produced by Nan Morales (Coach Carter, Freedom Writers), Bob Weinstein (Inglourious Basterds, The Reader) and Harvey Weinstein (Inglourious Basterds, The Reader). It co-stars Portia Doubleday (18, Legend of the Mummy), Ari Graynor (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Whip It), Rooney Mara (Nightmare on Elm Street, The Social Network), Mary Kay Place (It’s Complicated, TV’s “Big Love”), M. Emmet Walsh (Blade Runner, Midnight Cowboy) and Fred Willard (A Mighty Wind, Best in Show). It was distributed theatrically by The Weinstein Company and has a run time of approximately 90 minutes. It has been rated R for sexual content, language and drug use.
