You get better cases (if not exactly good[) and The Plan. I hate you. ;)

I don't see any price drop. The current set is $185, the new one $209 (both current Amazon pricing/discounts) without the statue (no mention I could find in that press release). If this is in digipaks, then the case "upgrade" is debateable. Regular slimpaks (which is what the DVDs are getting) would be my preference. I'll still be waiting for a major sale before picking this series up.

List is a price drop. The original set lists for $349, the new one $299. Judging from Amazon's pricing, the original right now is cheaper. However, Amazon goes up and down like stocks so when the new set is released the price is anybody's guess.

As long as the packaging is decent, I'm all over this even though I already bought Season 1 blu and The Plan blu. It's going to be cheaper to pick up the box set over buying the remaining discs I don't have. I skipped on the first box set because I was buying blind, but also because of the crappy packaging.

I never watched this when it was on air. I just decided a few weeks ago to give it a whirl and love it.

This set has been a dream of mine for a long time.

Never saw the show, but I have yet to meet anyone
who didn't rave about it.

The problem was the price of the set that kept me
from purchasing it.

I am very happy to hear about the repackaging and
lower price. I may just preorder it.

I agree that the eventual street price is anyone's guess, but until this is under $150 it won't be part of my purchase plans. The original $350 list was ridiculous, and $300 isn't much better, especially if the figure isn't included anymore.

Ron,
I remember your comments in the Babylon 5 thread a while back. If you enjoyed that, you'll love this. Ron Moore's Battlestar is the most mature program of its kind that ever made it on the air. It's The Sopranos of science fiction.

Also, according to tvshowsondvd.com there is going to be an official packaging exchange program for those who bought the earlier box set and would prefer to have the new packaging.
