Totally.

East of Eden would be good too.

Do you think it's going to be released this year?

I don't think there's any solid info yet but the assumption is that Goodfellas is just the existing disc and the bonus DVD from one of the WB Gangster sets in a book-style package.

I hope they add lossless audio to it this time.

Jim, I'm definately a Bogart fan, but i've come to the conclusion that I can't re-purchase everything I already own on DVD! But I will be picking up The African Queen on Blu-ray!

However, I will be re-buying Ben Hur and probably LotR as well.

And as much as I'd like Treasure of the Sierra Madre, I'll probably end up waiting for some incredible blowout sale on that and concentrate on The African Queen. There's an awful lot in the hopper this spring that's got my attention.

Ben Hur might also be, for me, one of the exceptions on this list. It'll be interesting to see how they do the Ultimate set...if all the features are going to be on BDs or DVDs. Depending on what they do, I might just get the barebones version and keep the four-disc DVD Collector's Edition. I love that 1925 silent version in that set.

You would be surprised at the one title in that list
that has me cheering....

WHAT'S UP DOC?

I am surprised they rushed this to Blu-ray, but
then when I thought further about it, this is one
of the funniest movies ever made.

If you have never seen this film, you owe it to
yourself to buy it on Blu. It's really one of the
greatest screwball comedies of all time with a
comedic chase sequence on the streets of
San Francisco that is not to be missed.

I may be a sad excuse for a movie watcher, but I think that Lost in Space is the only one I see myself picking up. :)

I already have Goodfellas, The Dirty Harry set, Grumpy Old Men and Gone With the Wind on BD, so I will be looking forward to buying:

The Music Man (on order)
Fame (on order)
Dr. Zhivago
The Maltese Falcon
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Ben-Hur

I may pick up European Vacation if later it gets a price reduction, and I will definitely be waiting on the EE's of Lord of the Rings (I'll probably just rent the theatrical editions). For anything else that I already have on SD-DVD, that format will suffice for me.

I agree with your surprise and also with your praise - great film, but I'm not sure I need to upgrade this one unless it's a bargain price.

There are a few titles on that list that could be possibilities if the price is right. I'd like to see some more dramatic upgrades, like Man Who Would Be King or Outland, although these may be coming but just not as high a profile.

Actually, that one piqued my interest, too. A movie that I enjoy, even though most folks hated it. Too bad we can't just buy chapter 1 and the chapter near the end when they fly through the disintegrating planet. Both sequences are excellent demo material.

I'm another one that's looking forward to this. Most people who hate the movie hate it because it isn't exactly the same as the TV series. Having re-watched the entire 83-episode series, I think it's a very good thing the movie isn't exactly the same! My favorite aspect of the movie is Gary Oldman's wonderful performance as a devious, menacing, non-buffoon Dr. Smith.

Has Warner really announced all these titles? It seems to me to be very informal, and probably very subject to change.

As far as I know there has been no press release
stating these titles will be coming out in 2010.

I am guessing that retailers got an early list and
that is what is being leaked.

I can comfirm some of these titles are coming
as I found out about them a month ago. Others
are a complete surprise and one of the titles
may be delayed for restoration reasons. However,
I'm not speaking in an official capacity here.
You do realize that sometimes titles announced this
early can fall off the release slate.

I just hope people don't point to this thread if, say, Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) doesn't make that date and is pushed into 2011.
