I'm considering getting this 65 inch Panny plasma, what are people's opinions on this set?  For the price(around $2600) it's tought to beat.

Go for it !!!  That is one, awesome TV you're looking at.  I own a 50" Panasonic and would have to have gotten that 65" although it wasn't out at the time.  I looked at the 65" and couldn't believe how good it was.  I saw a Samsung that looked just as good ( I think it was a 63") but I'd go with the Panasonic first.  It has an awesome picture, hard to beat, and the customer is incredible as well.

I have the 65V10 and believe it to be the best current production TV out. Period. I haven't yet calibrated it and it looks phenomenal on the THX mode in my dark theatre room. It's like looking out an exceptionally clean window: no over saturated color and you are there clarity, with truly excellent shadow detail. I'm a big Kuro Elite fan but do believe I'm in the land of trade offs with this set. Simply stunning.
