This year I carved four pumpkins inspired by the Creature from the Black Lagoon.  While it's not the first time I've done the Creature, I tried 2 new carves and tried to improve the others.

Here is the Claw!

And on a giant pumpkin, the movie poster.  This has more detail than my previous effort.  There are air bubbles, the background divers have more detail, the faces are rendered better in this one.

But a family cat is not replaceable like a wornout coat or a set of tires. Each new kitten becomes its own cat, and none is repeated. I am four cats old, measuring out my life in friends that have succeeded but not replaced one another.--Irving Townsend

Those are awesome.  I'm lucky if I can make a traditional pumpkin with triangle eyes and nose.  Even though I couldn't come close to any of these, I ought to try the "scraping" method or whatever you call it because it gives a nice, warm glow even in photos.

I call it shaving off the skin and I use  X-acto wood  carving tools.

That's crazy, I couldn't even draw that with a pencil, let alone into a pumpkin.

Nice job on those pumpkins: especially that last one depicting the poster art.
