Gladiator will be released in Germany on Blue Ray next week. Does anyone know if it will be region free? How about the transfer? Will they release the same transfer Paramount used here in the states?

It has been mentioned several times already in other forums that Universal created a single encode of the same transfer for worldwide use, so I'm afraid you won't gain anything from trying to import it from there.

Let's drag this thread out of oblivion now.  As you may have noticed on other forums already, in the Netherlands (which is to the left of Germany /img/vbsmilies/htf/smiley_wink.gif) the 10th Anniversary edition has hit the the stores almost unnoticeably (only two VERY overlookable stickers on the back-side of the ORIGINAL packaging give a clue; very classy...) and MatrixTom from www.dvd.nl was the first to report that it's a NEW and very good transfer.  After having bought and viewed it I can happily confirm this.  We have a winner here! /img/vbsmilies/htf/banana.gif

Excellent. Looking forward to the inevitable US "re-release".

The remastered version wipes the floor with the old version, as expected.

As I wrote in the other Gladiator thread...

I just hope the release (if/when it shows up in the US) is identical to the one that's already out there in terms of extras, seamless branching, etc. I can easily see them just releasing a 1-disc Gladiator with "Remastered 10th Anniversary Edition" on the cover with no extras. But I hope I'm wrong. /img/vbsmilies/htf/smile.gif
